Thanks guys, yeah with postage (from £3.75 i think it said), it should be just over £60 for the nexus from halcyonics. Had a look at the SilenX from the states and Exoticpc.com said shipping was around $40 with 14dB PSU at $80, and 18dB at $60, couldnt find shipping info at silenx.com. Would rather ...

Have a look at the software page in the links page from the main site. Get MBM5 and use that to measure your temps directly in Windows. Theres also a link to a prog to stress the CPU.

Ambient temps in the room the computer is in?

Ok, jus wondering how your measuring your temps ie what prog? how is the PSU temp measured? are you sure you're measuring the right temps? Have you tried using a CPU stress test like Prime95 and using MBM to measure temps? I would say have the CPU fan at 7.5V and the case fans at 5V. What are the sp...

Im using an 8942 as well :) Tho i have a papst NGML on it (19dB, 26CFM), running at about 9V. Both temps a coupla degrees higher than yours. Mines a 1.8A at 2.4 with vcore at 1.575V. Is your vcore above stock voltage?

Do you have an 80mm fan you can try it with? Doesnt have to be a panaflo, jus something with similar CFM, so that you can test what temps you get...

If its too hot then maybe try using a 120mm L1a as you suggested.

Arctic Silver should give a 3-5*C improvement over the thermal pad. Do you have the guide on how to remove it properly? Or are you getting an upgraded HS?

Re: I think I need a better heatsink for my P4 2.4Ghz

So I guess what I am looking for is a recommendation on things I can do to make the system more silent. I saw the recommendation on the Thermaright SLK-900U. Should I go with something like this and 92 mm pana fan? Does this setup really cool that much better than what I have? Yes it will! Much bet...

I dont know how p4 work but if that was an athlon my guess would be that you are geting 2 readings for the cpu: - the internal temperature sensor; and the cpu temperature sensor located on the board. True for Athlons, but Pentium boards dont have a temp sensor under the chip... I would also like to...

Far too difficult to say i think - even if you did get a number you would need to take into account the fact that you dont know how much CFM you will get from a fan setup after it has to contend with all the obstacles in a case. Having said that i think i would try using 2 L1a's - 1 in, 1 out, and s...

Re: ZM80A-HP in the post

where do these fans get their power? 3-pins plug into the mobo and 4-pins to the PSU, would that be right? So if I have already used the 3-pin connector for my CPU HSF, where do I plug in any additional fans? You can get splitters which convert PSU (4pin) connectors into 1 or more 3pin fan connecto...

Yeah, as soon as you pick the stuff up you will realise its perfect for the job, very dense, flexible and self adhesive. To get the density up you want to use some roofing tape from homebase or B&Q. It is a bitumen based layer with an aluminium layer on one side - about 2mm altogther. You warm the bitumen with a hair dryer and stick it straight to the inside of the case. Then duct tape along each edge to double check ...
