The Mobo temp seems a bit high (unless that's your CPU, in which case it would be really low), but the PSU temp seems completely fine.
My MB is 30 right now, PSU is 46.1, running folding. No clue what ambient is...

Safe PSU Temps?
What is the approx. safe temperature for a PSU? I have a probe on the bottom of one of the heatsinks right now. It's reading 118 F (47.7 C) and that sounds a bit high. Any ideas?

I game on my iBook now, so I have my webserver to do folding! It's on and working now. It crashes whenever I try to open display mode though...so I'm not sure if it's actually doing anything :!: EDIT: My temps went up 9C over idle...it's working all right! What is the X/600 thing? The FAQ doesn't sa...

The SK7 does fit most motherboards. It comes close to 1 capacitor of mine, but it's fine. The AX7 does not fit my board, FYI. The heatsink is higher than the AMD allowance. 454 g vs. 350 g max (+ the fan) shipping...as long as you watch it, and don't shake it around too much. Mine fits pretty damn s...

Actually the main quest for Morrowind isn't all *that* long. If you follow the main plot intently and become the Nevarine as soon as possible, I'd estimate that it takes about as long as a "standard" RPG. The thing is, the developers seem intent on throwing as many diversions as possible in the way...

Re: Building new computer, need advice
Im building a new gaming PC and im on a budget so I was thinking of getting a radeon 9500pro. I know it probably wont be quiet but I can always put a zalman zm80a on it later if i really find it necessary. 1. Anyone have any problems with 9500pro's? Or any other suggestions? 2. I was wondering what...

Re: 3dmark03
I got a 1076 with a Radeon 9000 and a 1700+...in a year or two, I'll score over 8000. For now, I'll settle with my battery backup upgrade.shunx wrote:Anyone tried the new 3dmark yet? It's quite demanding, I only got about 1200 with a Duron and GF4Ti. Now I feel like upgrading.

I've seen lots of inventive cross-polination of technologies here: Lawn mower intakes used as filters, Pringles cans used as ducts, Car radiators used for cooling, etc, etc...... I ran a K6-2 350 w/o a fan for a long time without even realizing it...but I don't recommend that. The K6-2 500 disperses about 20.75 watts of heat. If you got an SK-7 for $25 and a quiet fan, and undervolted the fan to 5v, the processor would be very cool, and would be dead silent. I recommend the ...

I have an SK-7 and a PC PnC silencer on a 1700+ With the sensor touching the back of the die: Sucking (air blowing "up" on a horizontal setup) is 2-3 C cooler, but noticeably loud, especially when the fan is at full power (12v). Blowing (down) is 2-3 C hotter than sucking (note: that sounded very wr...
