That's useful information about the two styles of Nexus fans. I purchased my Nexus fan from siliconacoustics.com and it has a two-wire/three-pin connector. frankgehry, where did you get your three-wire fans? ... Damn! I ordered mine from Silicon Acoustics too! (Haven't received them yet!) I just ha...

Francis, The Asus P5GD2 can support the new Intel PWM format, "CPU Q-FAN Mode". It is designed for the new fans that seperate the coil control circuit and the RPM sensing circuits. This allows the fan to report back an accurate RPM signal because that circuit is constantly powered. With the three p...

Re: Q fan
Thanks for the reply - I did notice the manual mentioning only one chasis fan can be controlled, although you can plug in a second one. In reply to harrigan's post, can you verify that a 3-pin fan such as the Nexus 120mm can be controlled by Q-Fan? (Apparently you can control a 3-pin CPU fan by sett...

Opera shouldn't be lumped with "other", it's such a terrific browser. (40 bucks is not too much for something you use so frequently-don't be cheapskates!). Asus Q-Fan 2 (on P5GD2 motherboard)
Hi! I recently got a Asus P5GD2 motherboard. I've searched for mention of the Asus "Q-Fan" fan control feature on this forum. However, none specifically mention "Q-Fan 2", which is what this motherboard has. I couldn't find a description of "Q-Fan 2" on the Asus website - you get the same page for "...

SPCR Review?
Since MikeC has recently issued a spate of fan controller articles, this may be a good device to include. The features, (like full-12V on fan startup), sound pretty good, but the lack of any kind of adjustments makes me cautious on whether this would be worth trying. I'd also like to know the exact ...

Cobalt3 Thermo Fan Controller opinions
I was a little surprised I couldn't find much mention on the forums of these fans controllers:
http://www.cobalt3.com/
Do these control fan speed with PWM? Are these to be avoided? Anyone with experiences or opinions on these fan controllers?

How to mod Sunbeam Reobus?
This has been mentioned in a couple other threads: to prevent the Sunbeam voltage going down to zero, it's possible to mod it with an additional trimmer to set a minimum voltage.
Has anyone here done this, and if so, can they provide specifics (maybe even pictures?) on how to do this?

CNPS-7000 AlCu vs. Cu
The lostcircuits review says the performance differences between the AlCu and Cu models are very slight. Anyone disagree with this? I'm pretty lazy - I don't want the risk of a wopping all copper heatsink, nor do I look forward into a complicated installation with the new Thermalright SLK-900 - so t...

HDD Heatsink in a 3.5 HDD bay
Hi! I'll be getting a new case (a modded D8000 from coolcases.com) - it has a 3.5 drive bay situated behind the front 120mm fan and has grommeted drive mountings. I heard that the grommets can raise the temperature of the HD's, since you loose the heatsink effect of the drive bay. I have a SCSI 10K ...

One other consideration, is that the isolators cause an increase in seek / access times of about 6-10ms, this may or may not be important to you. Whoa! Never heard of this before! Why would this be? Is it that since the isolators are absorbing vibration, the drive is actually moving (more than it w...

Re: One thing that I've noticed with my new Sonata
I've noticed that while CPU and ambient internal *MB* temps haven't risen, my HD temps , measured with either MBM or Dtemp, have risen about 12 degrees I'm curious to know if you're using the optional HDD bay 120mm fan. I'm interested in the Sonata but am concerned about HD temps. If you are using ...

Sonata in Beige?
the SLPC review of the Sonata had a test sample in white. Anyone know if Antec will offer the Sonata in anything but "piano black"? The black finish looks nice, but everything else I got is boring beige, and I'd rather not take the time to paint it!
