I mount coolers on my DG45FC using #8 machine screws, nuts and non-conductive washers. You can't tighten them up as much as you can with the stock hardware, but I haven't seen any disadvantage to this. My board is mounted flat in an HTPC, so no issues with the weight of the cooler bending the board...

Plug it into a 3pin connector and see if it is any better.

I have a Yate Loon on mine that is much quieter.

One of the reasons I hate front ports. I would much rather have a 3.5" drive bay so I can put the ports I want in.

I will add that, in my experience, the Big Shiruken is quieter than the Nexus Low straight out of the box, but replacement of the Nexus fan with a Yate Loon will result in a quieter combo with better cooling than the Big Shiruken.

With XP OEM my experience is the big OEMs (Dell HP etc) do tie it to the hardware but "ordinary" OEM windows will work if transferred to another PC, although this is against the license restrictions. This is more what I was recalling, as well. I don't believe you've ever been allowed (by the EULA) ...

Diversion/destruction of these asteroids is a lot more complex than you would suspect. You just can't necessarliy just hit them with a laser or a nuke. Depending on what they are made of, there could be no effect. I think that is why they are talking about an "Apparatus" in the article. Probably som...

Nexus Low is a little over 70mm, and, if it fits, that would be my first choice with a Yate-Loon 120mmx20mm replacement fan.

Other good choices would be the Shiruken and Big Shuriken (64mm).

Sounds like a good build. Post some pics when you are finished.

FYI, from the top of the PCB to the top of the Big Shuriken fan is 64mm, just like their site says. When you get everything set up, I can make some more measurements for you, if you need them.

Rather than the usb/sound ports, I would rather have a 3.5" drive bay with a fold down front plate so I could put in the ports I want. If you look at the Seasonic, you will notice that the part where the fan is mounted sticks out a bit. This probably accounts for the difference in the dimensions. I have the Seasonic, so if you want me to confirm any measurements, let me know.

Before you start spending money, try removing fans and see if you can maintain reasonable temperatures and reduce the noise to a tolerable level. Just because there is a fan mount doesn't mean you have to use it.

It is said in the review that " the PSU, ideally, should be a 120mm fan design — an easy requirement to fulfill, as almost all retail ATX12V power supplies sport 120mm fans " (on page 2). The LC17 is not a small case. It is 170mm High, so all but the biggest coolers will fit. I don't have mine any more, so I can't measure for you, but you might be able to fit something in there up to about 130mm high. My brother-in-law got a Nexus LXM-8200 in there, but I am not sure if the case pane...

If the data is that important, it might be worth just buying a replacement. I wouldn't count on someone lending you a drive to take apart.
