Suitability of Antec Minuet Case

I'm thinking about picking up an Antec Minuet case to house an Epia-M fanless mainboard. This will be a simple machine for my mother (xmas is coming!). The problem is that she is still using dial-up, so I'll need to buy her a modem and the Minuet only accepts half-height PCI cards. This leads to two...

Silent PC vendors in Canada

Are there any vendors in Canada that sell fully built up silent PCs?

I know there are a few who sell silencing parts, but if one didn't feel inclined to source all of the parts separately and building it up, are there any options?

I have a Radeon 9000 (non-pro model) that is passively cooled. It works great for me, and has DVI out (for when I finally buy an LCD), plus it's pretty cheap.

I'm surprised that people are recommending taking two computers to school. Who needs two machines (and all of the associated wires and clutter) in a 10x10 room? Not to mention the inevitable situation of not having the right file, e-mail message, application, etc. when you need it. My recommendation...

I'll keep the board posted.
Just got my epia board in the mail. :D :D

Now I have to put something good (and quiet) together. Watch for new thread coming soon.

My Shuttle SS51G supports SpeedFan. I'm pretty sure all of the other SFF Shuttle boards do as well.

They're probably separate companies (or maybe franchises), but my experience with the Canadian office was also very good.

I was a little unsure about what I needed to quiet down my old PIII and they were very helpful. Big thumbs up from me.

As you mentioned, this is the same heat pipe that they put in their XPC cases. There is very little air flow in those small cases, especially the ones loaded up with graphics cards, a PCI card, an optical drive and two high capacity heat generating HDDs. In my case, I have only a panaflo L1A blowing...

Afrika1 , your major issue will be quieting the PSU. Until you do that, you won't even be able to hear the graphics card. Changing the PSU fan seems to work, but I'm too chicken to open mine up. SmalQuietComputing is right that the Zalman cooler will not fit in the case. As for the case fan, I just...

I don't know anyplace in Vancouver, but Bigfoot computers in Toronto has them. Their shipping price is reasonable, too.

Cooling the CPU isn't really the issue. You can replace the stock sunon fan with a low speed panaflo and you'll hardly be able to hear it. I don't know whether you could go fanless, especially since it's such a small box. But, the biggest problem is the PSU fan, which is small and loud. You certainl...

Hi guys. I just got an e-mail saying that I have won the epia m 6000 board. What a way to start my day! :D Now I have to think of a good project to get started on. I'm sure this free prize is going to cost me some money (case, cpu, psu...), but hey, I'm not complaining. I'm now officially taking sug...

This is hilarious. My fridge is the same.
When I go to bed, I often think that there's a car idling in the driveway, then I remember it's just the fridge!

I tinker with my computer, but haven't gotten around to finding out what makes my fridge so loud. Maybe this is a new weekend project!

It's funny how people have different impressions about what is quiet. I bought an SS51 from Shuttle thinking that it would be quiet and boy was I wrong. Part of the problem is that these units are designed to sit on the desktop. This is a problem in two ways: the noise is closer to your ears and sit...
