where are you JoF? I have 2x512Mb PC2100 Hynix sticks w/ heatspreaders going spare, but I'm in Australia. Not sure how much p+p would be, but let me know if you're interested. I'm located in the US (California) and I'm not really interested in paying very much for these DIMMs, so I don't think a tr...

If you don't mind getting Zalman 7000 instead, Zalman actually sells the older/refurb HS on ebay. In fact, they have one on sale now. Just look for ZALMAN CNPS7000B. Thanks for the reply, but I actually can only take the Thermalrights. I plan on using these for a dual Athlon 1800 MP system and I'm ...

I did a cursory search and found only a possible reference to this keyboard, but the IBM (or I guess Lenovo) Keyboard with UltraNav (31P8950) is very quiet. It is identical, in theory, to the keyboards they have on their laptops (I personally think my Thinkpad keyboard is better, and I've heard the ...

FS: 120mm Panaflo WTB: Thermalright Socket A/462, DDR266 RAM
I'm looking for a Thermalright SLK-800/900 with clips (as opposed to the ones that use the motherboard mounting holes). I'm thinking since Socket A was long ago retired, these shouldn't go for that much? I'm thinking around 15 shipped? I also need DDR266/PC2100 or better DDR RAM. I would prefer 512m...

FSP400-60GN or FSP400-60PFN
Does anyone know the difference between the two? They both feature Active PFC, both 400w, single-fan, same current ratings for each line, etc. Do they both have the massive heatsink as shown here?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Help deciding: Fortran vs Zalman vs Antec
Well, as I mentioned in another post, I re-built one of my PCs in an Antec 3700 AMB case. I bought the case without a power supply. For the time being, I'm borrowing my TruePower 430 from my old 1080 AMG case. I'd like to put the 1080 AMG back together and sell it, so I need a power supply for my n...

Systemcooling.com Review
It beats the SLK947U by around 3 C and the SLK-800 by 6 C, I forgot whether it was idle/load, but it was with the "medium" flow 53 CFM fan.

What is the benefit of removing this chip? Doesn't it kee pthe noise down? You've made me think of something, that makes my reasoning useless. I was planning on putting a low flow NMB fan in it, that is quiet at 12V. I wanted it to always run at 12V so the PSU doesn't overheat as if it were lower t...

Where is the NoiseKiller chip on Fortron PSU, OK to remove?
Is the chip I have in the green circle the "Noise Killer" chip on the Fortron PSU's? I plan on removing it and putting a quiet NMB fan in. I just seek confirmation on whether that is actually the chip and if it's okay to remove. Thanks![/url]

One quick comment, re: stealing. In the US, if you are delivered something you did not order, you are allowed to keep it. That applies to the postal service, but since it's a federal law, I would imagine it applies to the other delivery services also. But I bet nobody will willingly tell you that. ...

Aren't CFM and dBa rather unreliable measurements as measuring techniques can differ from manufacturer to manufacturer? Now that you bring up rpm, I think it would be a good indicator though. You can use amps/rpm as a rough estimate, if you take the fan size into account. A 0.15A 40mm will scream, ...

FSP300-60ATV w/ 0.06A 80mm NMB Fan?
FSP300-60ATV 0.06A NMB Fan If I were to buy the Fortron power supply with the 80mm fan, would I be able to run it with the slower NMB fan? I've heard it's more accurate to look current draw and the Panaflo L1A has a current draw of 0.68A so the NMB fan should be slightly quieter? This should be qui...

Does the AOpen SilentTek eliminate the need for undervolting
http://www.bjorn3d.com/_preview.php?articleID=252 The article mentions that SilentTek feature can control fan speed. Does this eliminate the need for undervolting? Hi Batman, The noise would be lowered when using the Panaflo L1A, significantly lowered if you just swap it in where the stock fan used to be. If your lines are running too low, there's usually a pot inside that allows you to adjust the lines. How do you adjust those pots? My voltages are as shown ...

The clip strength for Socket370 and SocketA coolers does differ though. I posted a similar question at Anandtech and someone replied Not all coolers will work with both sockets.
