Thanks for the suggestions... Not sure how to go about doing a fan swap gitto - especially with safely securing a new fan onto the VF700. I've been considering the Schooner - just not sure if I want it hanging out the back of my case :?. Anyway, so that gives me 4 different options - just have to de...

Tzupy - thanks for the advice... problem is that I haven't figured out how to check the temps on my chipset. AFAIK, there is no way to accurately read the temp with the Asus board. I've tried all the methods suggested here previously and none worked. The NB47J is always hot to the touch - not too ba...

Thermalright V-1 passive?

Wondering how effective the V1 is without a fan? Has anyone tried it? I'm using a VF700-Cu on my X800 XL at the moment (Fanmated down to about 3.5v), but its too noisy so I really want to replace it. But I have a XP-120 and A8N-SLI so clearance is a problem. The V1 with a fan attached on the rear of...

Badger - sorry for not responding to your question. I've only just gotten around to revisiting this thread... I've been procrastinating on the drive enclosure and haven't purchased one yet :( . The more I read on the Nexus, the less sure I am about it. I'm now thinking of trying the Smartdrive 2002c...

Thanks Steve. I read your posts on the Nexus and SilentMaxx, and these are really helpful. The Nexus and SmartDrive both seem like good options, but I think I'll give the Nexus a go. Being in Australia, it's going to be fairly expensive, so I'm just hoping it will be worth it! As the DM10 is fairly ...

Nexus Drive-A-Way vs SmartDrive 2002C

Has anyone tried both of these enclosures? I'm wanting to purchase one for my Maxtor DM10 200Gb, but can't decide which to try... The Nexus looks like it might be more effective for silencing, but not as good for keeping the temp's down, as the contact with the drive is limited to those thermal pads...

Thanks for the feedback guys. I did try running M/board Monitor but it didn't support this board. That was using the latest version as of a couple of weeks ago. I'll try Asus Probe and a few others and report back with my findings. I thought I read somewhere that the NF4 chip doesn't have a built-in...

Thanks :) I haven't tested it without the intake fan. I'll give this a try, but I don't think it will have much impact on the overall noise level. The DM10 was sitting at about 38degC without any cooling when outside the case. Its at 36degC in the case with the intake fan. But its mounted low, so th...

My new AMD64/3000B PC

Hi, I've been lurking here at SPCR for the last couple of months, and this is my first post. I've just completed piecing together a new rig - my first major upgrade for about 3 years. It's all standard gear - I'm not into DIY or modding, so everything is stock out of the box. But I wanted to share t...
