Interesting--the CoolViva appears almost identical to the passive heatsink on my XFX 7950GT. The only difference is the color and shape of the heatsink covering the GPU. http://tinyurl.com/2bhhnw Otherwise, the size, shape, and location of the heatpipes and the fins on the back side are identical. h...

Re: How to put Artic Silver 5

When applying artic silver 5 to an amd x2, do you cover the entire cpu with as5 or do you just put a rice size in the center of the cpu core... Arctic Silver gives very precise instructions for the use of its products. Look here: http://www.arcticsilver.com/pdf/appinstruct/as5/ins_as5_amd_dual_wcap...

One possibility is that some of the sensors in the configuration file are labeled wrong. I assume the hard drive and video card get some help, but I'm not sure how much since I'm not sure what the temperatures are of those devices. Re: Speedfan automatic fan speeds?

Thanks to the forum I can now use speedfan to manually adjust my fan speeds. What I can't seem to figure out is if it's possible to use the program to run from startup and automatically control speeds by temperature like Easy Tune can do. Yes, it's completely possible--that's how I run Speedfan. Go...

I recently RMA'd a new 200GB Maxtor-branded Seagate 7200.10 PATA. It worked one day and then just clicked at the next boot.

My replacement drive arrived about two weeks after mailing in the bad drive. The new drive is a 250GB Seagate 7200.10 PATA.

Not bad, and the RMA process was very easy.

They do conflict. If you use BIOS you can't use SpeedFan. Maybe they conflict for you, but they don't for me. Don't assume what is true for your setup is generally true. I have speed control enabled in the BIOS to keep the fan speed down during the boot process, and then Speedfan takes over and fur...

SpeedFan 4.31 and up works with P5B. That much I can confirm. Only problem is though, the speed control on SpeedFan works as a whole. What does this mean? It means you can only control the speed of ALL the fans and not just one at a time. Basically, you can't control the speed of each fan independa...

3800X2: Prime95 fails on different core on new motherboard

Here's an interesting phenomenon: I had to RMA my Asus NF4 motherboard, so I replaced it with a similar MSI NF4 Ultra motherboard. Everything else in the system remained the same--not enough change even to trigger an XP re-activation. On the old board, my 3800 X2 was overclocked to 2400 (10 X 240). ...

SpeedFan can't find any drive temps, although it does find the CPU and board.
