Thanks for the comments, Neil. After quieting the rest of the system--suspended drives in Antec Solo, fanless Ninja, Zalman VF900 on the vid card, and Nexus intake/exhaust fans--the Antec Truepower is now loud enough that I've been thinking of replacing it with one of SPCR's recommended power suppli...

Power supply warble?

My Truepower II 430 has begun making a high-pitched warbling sound when booted for the first time. After it warms up a bit--5 to 10 minutes--the warble is gone and sound returns to normal. It appears to be the power supply fan--when I stop the fan, the warbling sound also stops. There have been no c...

There's one of these in a friend's Compaq Presario--apparently AMD has OEM'd a few different 939 Sempron's for HP (and perhaps others). They seem to be standard A64 chips with part of the cache disabled. See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_Sempron_microprocessors#Sempron_.22Palermo.22...

Anybody know anything about Ram in these computers? I went crucial.com and scanned my system. I have 2x 512mb sticks with a max of 4 GB allowed. They are DDR PC3200. I removed one of the two 92mm Nexus for another project (was going to replace it) and found that my drive temps didn't change more than a degree at most. Right now, they ru...

You could always mount the (slightly more available) 80-120mm adapter onto the Silentboost. Yes, that was my first thought. Unfortunately, the CPU socket is right at the edge of the board and there is not quite enough clearance for a 120mm fan. Aside from that I think your only option would be to l...

The 92 Nexus doesn't really push any more air. The difference in blade area is barely over 10% and at the same RPM, that's all the airflow increase you can expect. Then the adapter will case impedance loss, thus eliminating the minor gain. W/o changing the heatsink, all you can do is maybe lower th...

In my spare system, I've got a Thermaltake Silent Boost on a 2800+ Barton (undervolted to 1.55V and underclocked to 2700+.) Temporary pause for obligatory damning of Thermaltake. Thermalright SI-97 or Zalman CNPS7000B-AlCu for Socket A?

I need a cooler for a Barton 2800+, and I have been offered a used SI-97 for $20. I'd have to add a fan, of course. For about the same price, I can get a new Zalman CNPS7000B-AlCu. Will AMD Socket 939 HSF work on Socket 754 motherboard?

I'm putting together an nForce3 Socket 754 system for my son--he wants it as cheap as possible.

So, I have a stock Socket 939 HSF that came with my Athlon64 X2 3800. (I replaced it with a Zalman 7000.)

Will this stock AMD HSF work on a Socket 754 motherboard (Abit NF-8)?

Thanks.
