Pity that there hasn't been any replies so far, but I have done little checking what would be easily available as I have a plan to build the system for my folks' place during the Easter holidays so I need to grab the necessary items in next couple days. Thus, I think the setup would line up somethin...

New systems partially from old components
I have been thinking about couple new computers, which will use some of the old stuff I have collected... First one would go to my parents as the old P4 setup they have is way too noisy (I believe it is GPU fan that makes most of that) and the disk space is running low and cannot hold copy of my dig...

I have to agree that this indeed looks quite desirable PSU. However, looking at the specs I still think there is one big minus: how come a modern PSU comes with just two SATA-connectors?!? Sure, you can buy Molex->SATA-converters, but less cable clutter would be preferred. In fact, I would love this...

I happened to stumble on news about new Gigabyte motherboards, I think I have to mention one of these: GA-EP45-DQ6 offers four gigabit ethernet ports, although otherwise it perhaps overkill for the router usage (ATX-form factor, dual 16× PCIe slots for CrossFire[X] use, 10 (ten!) SATA ports).

Re: 2+ Gigabit Ethernet Ports w/o PCI cards?
Do you know of other mobos with onboard Gig-E support and triple interface support? Any recommendations? Thanks! I assume the dual gigabit offering ATX boards + extra 10/100 card are out of question? Especially as these models seem to aim toward dual video card gaming... Edit: the MSI Fuzzy 945GM2 ...

As long as you get a tuner with hardware encoding, you should be good for all cases. From the list existing hardware in the original message, I noticed "Hauppauge Nova T" -card, which most likely means that the broadcast system used is DVB-T and in practice that means there is no cards with hardwar...

Re: Recommendations for Linux System
I need some advice on building a Linux based work station. It will be used for web browsing and email most of the time, however I will need to do some software development and network simulation, and that involves running a guest OS in vmware or Xen. One of my main motivations is to build an energy...

I live in Europe, so no HDTV yet. At least not in my area - im on cable. So analogue signals is what I will be recording, however the analogue signals are currently being fased out to digital (not sure if this is a problem when choosing TV tuners). If DVB signal is available, I would strongly advis...
