i checked and the fan does have 3 connectors, just like lucas said. however i have no experience with soldering and dont have the equipment; is it possible to use some kind of paste and mix it with glue to attach the wire. Also would it be necessary to have a special kind of wire? Lastly, I have the...

2 pin --> 3 pin possible?

Is it possible to use a 2 pin fan on a mobo 3 pin connector and still control the speed? From what i understand, 2 pin is only for the 12V and no fan speed control, but is it possible to add a (yellow) wire for the control? Btw this is a crazy powerful 140 mm x 38 mm fan from a SUN Blade 1000 system...

That's what I was thinking of doing: testing it in another pc and transferring all the files or imaging it to another.

I agree that it shouldn't be a virus problem, unless it could dig deep and affect the way windows loads.

pc stops loading at mup.sys

This is a problem on my dads computers (dell xps 400 and dell inspiron x200) which i have to fix for him. He thinks that it is caused by a virus b.c of some shady sites he visited on both his desktop and laptop (same problem on both systems). XP does not load all the way when attempted to load witho...

Just wondering where the case serial number is located. i tried submitting a ticket for a front side mini-door (the ones that cover the fan filters on the P180B), but it asked for the serial.

And my next case will most likely be another Antec

to plug the top whole you can use something like a block of foam and tape/glue it in place. Or something less permanent would be a mouse mat on top (or cut out and glue to inside) , some tape, or a book on top. What cpu cooler and fan do you have? If it's stock I would recommend something like the T...

I think that they do a decent job of measuring sound. "Testing is carried out in an acoustically treated listening room, using a precision sound-level meter with an "A-weighted" audio filter. The results are in dBA and, to put a rough perspective on measurements, levels of 25dBA can be compared to t...

That's quite interesting. Looks like scythes and most other quite fans will prove to be even quieter than tested previously, making them appear even better. However, I think that more ambient noise gives a more realistic sound measurement for most users. As nobody (I assume) has such sound isolating...

1. I think either way would work fine. Whichever way is easier to work with all the cables. 2. Can't say much here. Do it without any changes and then try blocking them. Then compare temps. Although i dont think you will see much difference in either temps of noise. 3. Yes. This way all the air goes...

i just have a mouse pad on top. since it has foam-ish layer on bottom it even reduces some noise that would come from the top vent.

books are also good.

looks good. i have a feeling that the Max Orb is the cause of a lot of the other noise. The Noctua top-down cooler is good.

As for the gpu, consider an accelero S2 and open up the pci slots to let it cool off passively.

I don't have those clips. My version of the case, one of the earliest production models of the original P180, didn't ship with them. Do you mean the area near the pci slots? That hdd cage? If so, it can hold a fan as seen in the pic on the following page: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article741-page6.html And if you mean the DVD/CD area, you can zip-tie a fan anywhere in there as well and it will provide more direct air to the c...

good to hear some experience results with these.

It seems that many PWM fans have whining issues.
But still would be nice to get some number results perhaps after Mike is done with the chamber and catches up with all the things that aren't getting reviewed during the building process.

whats your prediction on temps

i dont think that it will be as good as twice the mass unit either. while heatpipes are very crucial to performance, i dont feel that simply adding more necessarily gives a big boost
