Tsk tsk, jamppa mah boi, don't you remember when I was asking for a low profile cooler? That 8400GS was actually installed in a slim PC case, but then after getting rid of most of it, I had that 8400GS waiting to be installed in my main rig, which previously housed a Matrox. For a DAW you only need ...

Is there the famous GeForce 8400 GS in use? YES INDEED! It's the ASUS EN8400GS SILENT/HTP/256M ( http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=NamCbx9IwqvXUIog ) however I paired it with the Coolink SWAP, used a ZALMAN adapter to lower voltage and now it is inaudible, but cools nicely down to 45C...

Consider this http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/product.php?id=MzE= and a low profile graphics card like NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS. Is plenty for HTPC and accelerates HD video nicely. Many versions don't have HDMI natively, but have an S/PDIF input header and carry audio through DVI and using a DVI-HDMI a...

The TriCools at their lowest setting are fairly quiet, should move a bit air and might be enough for your setup. Should temperatures be high, gradually raise the speed of each TriCool to see how it affects air circulation in the case. Once you have found a spot where you need more air to be pushed, ...

hmm, I got my hands on two nanoxia's - the 120mm 1250rpm model - out of interest last month from Chilled PC's. Verdict: They're not quiet by a long stretch, even @ 7v compared to the any of the recommended 120mm fans in the SPCR list, or even the cheapo Med Speed Yate Loon's @7v. They're good for b...

Well, you know how warm the human body normally is, right? So when idle, take off the side panel and touch the heatsink with your fingers (hold the fan with your hand for a few seconds if you need to). Now describe how it felt, was it warm or hot? this way you can at least be a bit more sure if the ...

Re: new "silent" mouse

35.5db doesn't exactly sound quiet to me When recording something with the microphone a few centimetres and then a single metre away, there's an enormous difference. Also, the value seems to be presented in SPL and not dB(A), which would explain a few other things as well. As usual however, Engadge...

But, as I said earlier, If I can't be sure of what I'm getting, I'll be sticking to what I know. If you didn't mention to me the GPU codes, G86 vs G9...
