Re: Voting in America just got a bit harder

A valid government issued photo id is required for many aspects of daily life, such as getting medical care, boarding an airplane, etc. The fact that some are too lazy to get a non-drivers license id (states will issue ids in cases where the person doesn't have or want a drivers license), or too la...

Re: What's with the Noctua fascination?

Sure, but a fan which has a warranty of 6 years must be built to be more robust, because a warranty claim due fan noise in 5th year can be costly for manufacturer. All Nexus fans are 6,5 euros here.

Re: What's with the Noctua fascination?

Let's see, let's check out this thing called warranty (which in case of fans cover all non-standard noise) - minimum in my country is 24 months. Noctua fans - 72 months, everyone else - 24 months. And pricing is very local thing... Noiseblocker eLoops are ~17 euros, Multiframes are 20 euros. Scythe ...

Yes it can control the fans, but keep in mind that the fans that come with NH-L12 are PWM fans. Your NH-C14 come with non-PWM NF-P14 fans.

R2->R3 was like that. R3->R4 is pretty big change, especially considering the removable HDD tray. If that bothered you in R3, it can be a deciding factor for upgrade.

Re: Western Digital Red 3TB & 1TB Hard Drives

I personally don't really mind TLER on or off. With TLER off (Green drives) the drive can lock itself up with many tries to recover data even for minutes. With TLER on (Red drives), it is limited to seconds. But from my standpoint, once drives needs to use special techniques to read the data because...

What are the contraindications to use the Reds as INTERNAL drives in a DESKTOP? TLER is the only one. What does TLER means ? Standard desktop drives tries to recover data from hard to read/unreadable sectors until it succeeds. TLER enabled drives tries to recover data only for few seconds, after th...

Now only if the 3TB would have pre-flood prices, that is ~120e, i would actually start replacing my greens with these reds. But at ~180e for 3TB model, i don't think so.

Since you say there are no populist parties in Switzerland, you'll probably be interested to know that the 2nd Internationale has been in governem...

... If you check out the wikipedia article you just linked, you can see that you had the rule of 50% of all voters (not 50% of people who voted) since 2000. Why did you ignored it in 2007 ? That is your problem. Secondly, when you joined EU you accepted that you will have to adapt EU legislation. "...

@Tzupy: I think you misunderstood what democracy is. First of all, democracy as political system doesn't exist anywhere. Democracy will exist when each person will have the right to vote on each law change. But that won't happen, because people are stupid. Don't misunderstand me - if people would de...

Re: Fractal Design Define R4 launches

Probably, but most people don't have such long videocards, hence the request for a more compact case. Let think about it. ATX board specification requires 24,5cm in depth. 3-4cm is needed for a bit over the ATX spec boards (EVGA Z77 FTW for example, which is 26,35cm) and for 90° SATA connectors = w...

Re: Fractal Design Define R4 launches

Fan were mounted on the plastic pieces before as well, it is just that they simply replaced two separate plastic fan mounts with one huge piece, and removed the bar between them and of course the material which would block a 14cm fan in R4 compared to the 12cm fan in R3. 14cm fan means less metal an...

Re: Fractal Design Define R4 launches

Lower weight ? Simple : - the front panel fan mount is now a big plastic piece. In R3 there was some metal, even between the two fans. First source of weight loss. - hard drive cages - before you had these huge vertical fixed mounts, one of them was long to have the cable routing holes at the back s...

NH-L12 fits without covering the PCI-E slot, and NH-L12 is bigger. So Big Shuriken 2 should fit fine as well.

Re: Scythe Big Shuriken 2 & Reeven Vanxie CPU Coolers

No, they are not big - S1155/1156 boards have mostly "wrong layouts". I'd say it's the other way around, most heatsinks have the wrong layout. Heatsinks are made for motherboards, not the other way around. When you have to fit two chips (CPU + PCH) into a small area you can't expect one of them to ...

Re: Scythe Big Shuriken 2 & Reeven Vanxie CPU Coolers

Our only real complaint about the product is endemic for all top-down heatsinks with 120 mm fans — they are too big to use in SFF gaming systems with mini-ITX LGA1155/1156 boards, hanging over the PCI-E slot, preventing the use of discrete graphics cards. This is unfortunate as this type of PC is m...
