Doesn't the composite side cover fall apart once you've cut it? Composite side is the layer alu on the sidepanel on the inside of the pc? No it doesnt. Antec has used somekind of glue to hold it in place. It was fairly easy to cut. I have used a jigsaw with a fine metal blade to cut it. Just feed t...

Dont have the card myself but it seems that is the connection for the flatcable to the audigy 5.25" bay. Maybe you can find that in a manual (u can find that online).

Why not? You sure can do. It wont catch fire because (when everything is ok :P) your components will never get hot enough to light up the cardboard.

Also cardboard doesnt conduct so you can put it on components if you want.

You can definitely get some quiet 92mm fans. They aren't as great as 120mm, but can be just as quiet with the right fan and slow enough RPM.
What a dremel/jigsaw cant do ;) At least, thats what i would do.

I am wondering, what is the reason these fanguards are fitted to cases at all? They can even be found in cases that are built for silence, in places where fingers are not an issue (like SPCR's own P180), so why are they fitted/stamped? Maybe they play an important role in shielding the gear inside ...

At least get a psu that has a decent 5v rail. Athlon (XP) system draw their power from the 5v rail instead of the 12v.

I put in a CX400w today for my parents system. They have a Athlon 1000 T-bird and the 5v rail is getting used good. On boot it drops to 4.7v and normally its around 4.9/5v.

Get somekind of tower cooler with easily removable fan. That way you can easy dust out the cooler. You cant protect your pc to all dust. Some will get in if you want it or not. Dust filters will work to but you still have to clean your pc once in a while.

Why? In theorie that tensioned panel should make a very good contact at some point. With a panel without bends you'll have some tension at every mounting hook. I wouldnt worry (or use some sound dampening stuff to make it feel sturdy).

800's will do (but have to be undervolted to 700RPM to be completely inaudible). So you'll have some headroom with GT 1450's and a fan controller.

Buy a disk silencer (Scythe has one). The F1 serie is really quiet so you can quiet it down even more. Then apply some foam padding to your system to minimize the noise around the drive (and dampen the sound for the drive in the silent box).

Run a memtest from (for example) a Ubuntu liveCD. You need the real memtest.
