Are fan isolaters the same thing as grommets?

Or are the technically different, but serve the same purpose when they are used to mount case fans in the hopes of silencing them?

Could you point me toward some ear grommets? Directron seems to offer the washers only.

I wonder are there large differences with Silenx, Nexus and Zalman 400w units as they all are the same PSU made by Fortron with similar heatsinks. I wonder the same. Specifically, I wonder how the air flow of a 14dB SilenX PSU compares with that of a Nexus 400w. I'm basically trying to choose betwe...

We are now accepting orders for SilenX power supplies at www.silenx.com. Please do not purchase SilenX products from ExoticPC.com, they will cease to ship all SilenX products effective immediately. This is great news! Thank you for the heads-up. I was under the impression that you guys would need a...

I'm going for the SilenX 400watt or 550watt (if they are going to make that one) myself. The website says 300watts to 550watts, so I hope they have the 550 by April 7th. The extra power would be nice because the SilenX looks like a PSU I'll be keeping for awhile. So April 7 is the official release ...

I'm new here, but this is as close to your specifications as I have found thus far: the Nexus 400w featured here
or the SilenX 350w or Silenx 400w, both of which are currently unavailable until sometime in early April.

Wow, these look nice. Thanks for the pics. Are the cables long enough for your setup?

Oh, and I agree. The Fortron and the new Zalman do look alike to me. But keep in mind that I'm a newbie so I haven't seen the inside of any PSUs outside of these forum pics.

There is medication for that.

j/k, thanks for clearing that up for me. *must resist urge to consider stamped grills taboo*

It does help somewhat... but keep in mind... typical PSU placement usually alow it to sit on metal tray as well (in case of most expensive case). Better method would be opening up the PSU and iso mount those fan(s) in it. It will cut down the noise level from PSU dramatically. iso mount the fans? W...

Guys, I just want to make sure I understand what SilenX is: it is a Fortron PSU that is modified with a unique fan? Or is there much more to it that I am missing? I've been banging my head here lately in trying to determine if I want to buy a Nexus or a Zalman. Then, I have to decide 300w or 400w (n...

Just read that it will be available on March 28. You can check it out here.

High price, though not as high as I had expected. It uses active PFC, which I don't completely understand, but I think it makes more effecient use of the AC current?

Hopefully SilentPCReview will be able to review one.

Help to define MAXIMUM LOAD

In reading reviews of the silent PSUs, I have found that one PSU1 may be quieter than PSU2 at maximum load; otherwise, PSU2 is quieter than PSU1. Can somebody help me to understand a situation that might be considered maximum load? It would seem obvious that using every single device attached to the...

Will there be a reveiw of the Zalman ZM400A-APF 400W soon?

Just wondering as I want to know how it compares to Zalman's 300 watt version. Though I don't think I need the extra power, I am asking myself if perhaps it might be even quieter than the 300 watt model, more efficient, more "stable" as has been quoted here by a forum member, just plain better in an...

It probably doesn't matter. I have pretty much decided to go with either the 300 or 400 watt Zalman or the 300 watt nexus. Just need somebody to nudge me in the right direction.....

Determining make and model of a PSU

My dad recently bought a Compaq Presario 6370US. It's a 2.53Ghz p4 fsb 533MHz. This computer is amazingly quiet. The only time it makes an appreciable amount of noise is when the optical drives spin. This is what spurred my interest in getting a quiet PSU. I opened his case to view the PSU sticker. ...

Re: Some Zalman 300 series are "unstable"

Actually, they have problem with EFI circuit or component that causes hi frequency noise. Which they acknoweldged 1/30/03 in Korean and in process of replacing. I don't know how they will deal with it in US market though. (It is on their korean webpage for Korean customers though) I would logically...
