Re: Cheap Acoustic Foam

For use in a PC to reduce noise, foam w/o a mass damping layer has minimal effect. what about people with cases from the antec p100 series? these side panels already have a fair bit of mass, so would adding a layer of foam on top of that (like puget systems does) make much difference? they use acou...

vibration is worse for drives than heat, dont get too worked up about it.

Re: quieter than lian li pc-a71f?

initial reaction is the nzxt whisper. idk what kind of hardware youre wanting to put in there, or the main usage... but it would seem to make sense.

also, you could suspend some more drives in the 5.25 bays on the p193

Re: Advice for a performant nettop

does the cpu intensive application have to be run on the nettop, or can it be run on a different machine, and then have the nettop running a remote desktop? if that was the case, ion or fusion based nettops would be sufficient. joins today; asks for advice and specifies that noise is not a concern.....

Re: Needing to Build a Quiet Digital Audio Workstation!

overclocking my x4 by .7GHz cut about 3 hours off of what would have been a 12 hour render.

it did nothing for web browsing, of course. but i agree with most everything that tim just said above me.

it might be easier to ship to canada/us than to europe.

also: canadians have access to the asrock, msi, and gigabyte boards.

further proof of being the best? not like any was needed.

3 pin fan right? the yellow lead should be the rpm sensor. from the fan, wire that to your motherboard somehow; while still running the black and read leads to your fan for power.

nah nah nah. i liked the fins because they were separate fins all cut up in segments like a mugen-2. more edge surface area. it'd definitely be better if they were all in a straight line though, you are right.

"HTPC/Home Server" -so... do you need that 4850 for something? the reason i ask is that it seems doubtful that you'll be able to load your case up with hard drives and still fit a full size graphics card in there. reading some of the reviews for those cases, it certainly seems like there will be iss...

if your mobo has a pci slot, get the essence st instead of the stx; general consensus on the web is that it has better sound; though i kinda doubt its noticeable.

there might be better combination of cpu's and graphics cards depending on your use.
