Confused??? VERY !

I know I'm a little simple, but I thought the whole point of DVI was that its DIGITAL. How can there be an analog version ? :( Whats the difference between DVI-A and D-Sub?

You can get those little converters that plug into the back of the card that turn either DVI to VGA or visa versa. Would that be suitable for you?

Good call!!! This is probably the card for me too. I would love to think that my budget will stretch to their fanless 6800, but something tells me not. I'll hold out for a review to see how these things perform. After all, some of those 6800s can be converted into the GT models. Although, even after...

You probably could hold your finger there. Depends on your level of pain tolerance, and if your finger is warm or cold.

Think of jumping into a hot bath, you soon get used to the temp. This is why ppl invented the thermometer :)

It's different for different people. My old Chemistry teacher has asbestos fingers, he reckons he can hold stuff up to 60C My limit is in the region of 45-50C iirc. I must confess to it being some time since I have been sufficiently immature to test this out ;) (I'll let you build the mental picture...

Talk about good timing. We were talking about this cooler in the previous thread.

Its nice to hear that it works so well. It looks like it could be on my list of purchases, although only if I do not go for the native passive Gigabyte 6800 card.

Sounds like great news to me. Normally TT don not make good stuff, but it seems like this good be a nice exception :D I'm all for fanless GPU's. It looks like this one may even work on a 6800GT (given that the GT has similar thermal dissipation to the 9800 Pro). Unfortunately, given its shape, I do ...

Retiring a noisey drive to an external enclosure sounds like a great plan. The fact that it is noisey will remind you to turn off the drive in the enclosure :) After all, you do not want it on all the time, or your backups will not be as well protected against viruses. I've just installed 3 drive en...

Have you considered the totally passive Gigabyte 6800. It does cost more than a 6600GT, and in many cases its performance is no better. But, you will not have to buy another aftermarket HSF, its totally passive, and has a warranty.

Cool, it will be nice to know how you get along with those. I've just managed to work out that my Silentmax drive enclosures are not compatibile with my case. I've also worked out that the screws they supplied do not screw into the lugs that they supplied. It may sound like a small problem, but it j...

I'm generally not that bothered about seek noise. Its the idle whine that really gets to me. If the drive does not have that, then its a good option :)

I'm sure SPCR will review the 7200.8 when it gets its hands on one. The question is, when will they get their hands on one ?? :)

You could always buy one and send it in ;) After all, you are in the US and are somewhat closer to the labs than myself :D

The benchmarks that I have seen refer to the 6800 only being as quick as a 6600GT. Given that the 6800 costs a lot more, thats not a particularly good deal.

If the Gigabyte 6800 is reasonably quicker than a 6600GT then it may well be worth the extra money.

I'll second that, not that I need to given that the previous post was by the AntecRep :) It is unpleasant and sometimes quite disconcerting. Its PCIe *sob*. I hope someone makes an AGP version of a really fast passive GPU for us mere mortals. So for only Gigabyte have a 6800, but thats a bit slow.

Maybe Zalman may come to our rescue.

An expensive option is to consider using Silent Max drive enclosures. These also make an attempt to decouple your drives from your case by use of 4 soft large rubber blocks. The HDD is placed inside the enclosure, and then the enclosure is screwed into your 5 1/4 bay. This leaves you free to move th...

Maybe I'm just being an optomist, but specs can be wrong. I know its rare that ppl underclaim for their products, but there is still a chance that they will be quieter than we are now expecting. They are intending to make a 500Gb model, so perhaps the figures that have been quoted are for that drive...

Yeah, I was thinking that there was potential for the fanless heatsink on a GT model. I think what I am after is a GT model as they seem to be an awful lot faster than the standard model (according to Toms Hardware). Saying that, the fan on the heatsink maybe extremely quiet, then again of course, i...
