Thanks for the acknowledgment from all us newbies haysdb. The thought of staving off the attack from 'the mac lads' had no influence on me at all  It was pure coincidence that I joined just after learning that the mac TV advert (in the U.K.) for 'the fastest proc. in the world' was banned (Sor...

Couldn't agree more guys. :D 'Well said' to all of you. Still at least we lower at the echelons see a faster percentile (Wow, does that word exist?) increase. Iv'e enjoyed seeing my meagre points rise dramatically and am making the most of it fully aware that it will effectively slow. Just smile and...

Exhausts

Talking of 'exhausting' the air, utilizing software car/motor cycle manufacter's deliberatley 'tailor' the sound of the engine by design of the exhaust pipe. Thus surely there is knowledge around to produce a system to cope with at least reasonably broadband frequencies. Think how quiet a Rolls Royc...

Jason, The original version of W95 will not support USB, later versions (OSR2.5) will support it but I think you'll find it's patchy. You really need to go to at least 98SE to get full support for USB. So I guess the other parts of your question don't need answering  I'm sure this is right but ...

Hiya, have a look at this thread: http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=8599 Think it might answer some of your questions. I personally have a XP2400+ that lives at 49-52c folding 24/7 with a rotary fan(24V) operating at 7V so it's nice and quiet. The trick is to use a good heat sink and ...

Have been down this route (Squirrel cage/vacuum fan) myself with excellent results. Wrote a bit that appeared on overclockers: http://www.overclockers.com/tips1026/ Have modified things since then but it's basically the same These fans need not be noisy, and 'side draughting' your heatsink works far...

:D Cheers for that. Will only allow it to run midnight to 08:00(just for folding) each night till I know it's OK. (In the back ground 18:00-00:00) Thinking of hiding it in the attic and running remote somehow so it can run 24/7. Any ideas anyone? :?: (Promise to get over the Emo...

In the hope that it may inspire more to join the effort,
I've done it and it's easy.
Nice to 'give' something back.
Had a lot of good reads and idea's from SPCR, nice to be helping the team.

Also nice to see my comp. 'do' something for a change. :D
