Nice setup! Do you use a screwdriver to short the power/reset pins? :)

Excellent review. I hope you get to do a follow-up on the GoFlex. It's a neat idea, but having separate cables is a PITA. The G-Drive Mini is what I'm using now.. plenty fast over FW but boy is it noisy as heck. BTW noticed a booboo, page 4, paragraph 1: Seagate's Scorpio 2.5" notebook drives are mu...

If you like the latest power hungry components and don't like noise (Folding on one or multiple GTX285 for example), water cooling is about the only thing that will keep the noise down. That being said, if you keep your loop simple, you can get a very very quiet setup using something like a d-tek db...

Finally got my system up an running using the package I bought a while ago (DC/DC + Gateway Adapter). Is 100W @ load (60W @ idle) too much to run this thing fanless? The PCB gets "hot" - not intolerably so, but enough that I think I should add a slow 80mm fan infront of it. It's worth noting that I ...

S-Flex F is perfect for this PSU. I swapped one into my HX620 after the stock fan developed some chugging sounds. Quiet as ever, no worrying about the Sony fluid bearings. 150W load is nothing on this PSU.

I use an APC Smart-UPS 1500VA for my home PC and it's pretty damn silent. Once every two weeks or so it does a self-test which seems to involve switching to battery power momentarily and running the internal fan for a while. That's the only noise I get from it, and IMHO it's worth an occasional cli...

Looks like you'll have a very nice gaming rig there :) You should look into getting an EK GT200B full cover water block. It is a single slot solution provided you can replace the PCI slot bracket, and it usually helps out the routing of tubing. One thing to note - the way you have the DDC mounted wi...

It seems that the hardmounted fan transmits vibrations through my aluminum case. When I get some time I'm going to open it up and softmount the fan.
Warranty on my unit is already void anyway... 8)

EDIT: There is no space between the fan and heatsinks! So much for softmounting.

Lots of noise when mounted to IcePack
'Mosquito' whine when bare
Whine still audible when mounted on IcePack enclosed in a Scythe Quiet Drive, but only from certain angles.
2.5" SQD (or even 3.5") are no longer available in Canada:(

BlizzCon tournament stage - Quiet Rooms

Check out what Blizzard has done for their RTS stage. This is the first time that I've seen competitive StarCraft/WarCraft live and when I saw the sound dampening material inside these rooms, I immediately though for SPCR. I'm not sure how much sound is blocked, but it has to be "enough" even though...

I can't saturate my gigabit network however it read/writes over 100 MB/sec if I do everything locally on the server -- possibly some kind of override when it is happening over the network. Hitting PCI's limit? I was thinking something along those lines, though I never did have it set up long enough...

Try an Enermax Pro82 or Modu82.

I have a Corsair HX620 that sings with certain video cards (3850/3870/8800GTS512/GTX).

Switching to an Enermax Modu82+ 625W silenced it, but then the fan growl gets annoying

The easiest thing to truly silence this PSU is to swap the stock fan with an Sflex F. It takes maybe 15 minutes of your time, you save time without a PSU, and the cost for shipping pays for a nice high quality FDB fan. :)
