Between these drives: Samsung F3 Samsung F2 Seagate 5900.12 LP all 1TB the F2 is easily the quietest of them all. And it works very well inside a Scythe Quietdrive unlike the F3 which vibrates too much making the quiet drive actually amplifying the read and writes. Terrible. Soft mounted of course. ...

As I expected with the way too many transistors for 40nm plus the 384bit memory bus.

xbitlabs Silencing and Cooling Systems for Hard Disk Drives
A roundup can be read here:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cooler ... undup.html
I only skimmed it through swiftly and I seems they didn't softmount, but it still can be interesting to many SPCR readers.

A review is also posted at Legion Hardware. As for availability, Frozen CPU is the only place I've seen it listed and they don't have an ETA. I am very excited for this to finally become available. What do you think are the chances of this cooling an HD5850 passively with decent surrounding airflow...

I'm opting to get the xfx 5770 w/ stock egg cooler and then retrofit with an Accelero L2 Pro ... ATI's built-in over-clocking tool also means that you usually can easily get a noticeable bump in performance simply by using a higher-quality cooler. 1. I'd also like to recommend the S1 rev B. Dremel ...

Lawrence: ... From What I have seen, you can take the DVI cover off and you won't need to modify the S1. Let's see, I either cut off some aluminium fins on a €15 heatsink , and pretty much nothing can go wrong as long as I don't touch the heatpipes or the base with some tool. Or, I remove the cov...

As for transcoding of movies, I just can't see that many people doing it. How do you think all those movies being illegally shared are produced? Aren't most group releases? Anyway.. wonder if the h57 chipset can have as low idle watt usage as Intel's motherboard? That would make a great sec...

If you check the bioses on this page: http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/index.php?page=1&architecture=&manufacturer=&model=HD+5750&interface=&memSize=0 Download them, and open them up in RBE you can see whether they'll downclock or not. I checked a few, and the one's that should be avoided are: Gig...

My subjective impression on the Himuru and quietdrive is that the latter is better at damping the idle noise but at least with the F2 1tB is not as great in damping the read, write and seek noise. The himuru doesn't tend to vibrate as much (it's stiffer) so it doesn't amplify reads and writes. It is...

Well, it works well so I cannot complain. There probably is no VGA cooler which is as good as AC S1. Well, there's the the AC Extreme 4870X2 which is one hell of a piece of engineering  Anyway, Prolimatech's first VGA cooler looks truly good, it may be the best fanned cooler ever made. Possibl...
