AC S1 rev B doesn't seem to work with most 5770's.

I use Thermalright HR 03 rev A and it works well enough with a 120mm 500rpm fan. Full load temp is 65C.

Samsung F2 1tb and if you don't mind spending a bit extra then also purchase a Scythe Quiet Drive but it needs to be softmounted, preferably on foam.

I agree, as it seems to me that the quiet drive is perfect for 5400-5900 rpm drives (but doesn't work quite as well for 7200rpm plus drives because of added vibration...which often amplifies reads and writes).

I recommend foam to get rid of vibrations..

Between these drives: Samsung F3 Samsung F2 Seagate 5900.12 LP all 1TB the F2 is easily the quietest of them all. And it works very well inside a Scythe Quietdrive unlike the F3 which vibrates too much making the quiet drive actually amplifying the read and writes. Terrible. Soft mounted of course. ...

A thermalright HR03 rev A is not single slot but you should be able have the cooler 'on top' of the graphic card instead of under.

I'll know next week (my 5770 is at RMA atm)

I cannot recommend the S1 rev B to 5770. As the core will not have contact with the heatsink surface area, at least not without modding.

From what I've experienced clock speeds are much more important in 2d than voltage. This with 4850, 4770 and 4830 cards...power draw has been measured from the wall.

If it downclocks to 157/300 then it should save power.

My subjective impression on the Himuru and quietdrive is that the latter is better at damping the idle noise but at least with the F2 1tB is not as great in damping the read, write and seek noise. The himuru doesn't tend to vibrate as much (it's stiffer) so it doesn't amplify reads and writes. It is...

"I'm looking for 1 TB of storage; it must be QUIET; performance is not important"

I doubt F3 is as quiet as F2. So..

Samsung F2 1tB. Place it in a softmounted Scythe quiet drive or Scythe Himuru. I prefer the latter in this case since it makes drive read and writes quieter than the quiet drive.
