quiet psu with papst and air tube
Here ist my setup for a very quiet and cheap psu. I have an Enhance 300W unit with quite large aluminium heatsinks. Maximum enviromental temperature 50°C, maximum storage temperature 60°C. I assume, it's safe to have a heatsink temperature of 70°C. Enermax are specified to 70° C environmental (at 0%...

It needs a lot of time to recognise them. Sometimes it fails with scratched CD-RW. But for this type of CD, I'vd my...

There are utilites which montitors which program acesses a file. Would be interesting to see what XP is doing. Head crash when plugged of is not to be expected. Either there is a spring which pulls the head to the parking position. Or the drive uses it's remaining spinning energy for this operation....

Re: Thanks!
AAM is acoustic management, you're right. Yes the new IBM 60GB has the sound level of the old Barracuda IV 40GB and 50% more capacity. Especially since it only draws ~5W in idle mode > good passive cooling. (Barracuda draws ~8-10W). But there are 2 other contenders: The new Maxtor Plus 9 160GB (6Y16...
