I got an Akasa amber fan with my CPU cooler (EVO-120) and it's the worst 120mm fan I've ever heard. Maybe I got a defective unit, but it was unbearably loud. I hope yours is better. :)

Also, how's the Kama Bay in the Solo? Does it fit flush? Do you happen to have a pic of the front of the case?

Hmmm. I'm sure it's effective in terms of dampening, but your 1000RPM fans will undoubtedly be noisier than a 4200RPM notebook drive so your enclosure doesnt' seem to serve much of a purpose. Notebook drives can take more thermal punishment than 3.5" drives, but you're covering it in cloth... I don'...

Uhm, I don't think you've done enough research. You're planning to use a full size ATX motherboard in a uATX case. Once you've found a suitable AM2 motherboard (the Asus M2A-VM fits), you'll need to find a S939 to AM2 converter before you can even install it. I'm not sure how you'd go about acquirin...

Are you pleased with the SG03's build quality? Not too flimsy? I like the look of the case but am a bit worried about the quality.

Also, why don't you just invert the PSU and use Silverstone's NT06 for "passive" CPU cooling? The whole case was designed around that setup.

I had a 74GB Raptor in a Scythe enclosure resting on a piece of foam on the bottom of my case for a while, it might be acceptable for you. As long as you don't hard mount the Quiet Drive, I think you'll be ok with the noise level. As mentioned before the Raptors all idle really quietly, and it's onl...

Probably because the fans are thermally controlled, and you don't want someone to install a 500RPM fan when a 1600RPM one is needed. With CPUs and GPUs you can monitor how effective your 'custom' cooling solution is, not so with PSUs. If you're running inadequate cooling for your PSU, and it overhea...

I'm very interested in the HD3450. Does anyone know what the least powerful CPU is that'll fully decode Blu-Ray/HD-DVD content (from hybrid LG optical drive) in combination with the 3450? I really don't need this HTPC to do any more than playback HD content. Would a E2200 be sufficient?

The 2.5" drives are so thin, there'll be a lot of space above them inside the 3.5" enclosure. You'll need to figure out a way to transport their heat to the outside of the enclosure. Maybe a gelpack. They'll physically fit, I'm sure, but it won't be a very elegant solution. I think you're better off...

Thanks for the info. I was wondering why the CONSUMER MOBI 3000 was more expensive than the PRO MSD 6000 since their specs are identical. The answer I received from the person selling them was that the MOBI had slightly better RAID compatiblity and newer firmware revisions. Hardly worth $125. Unfort...

I think despite my negativity and distaste for the case's exterior, I'm probably going to buy this case. There simply aren't any good uATX cases available, and the MP180 is at least of solid construction with a good airflow configuration. I'll just have to make it a point to never, ever look at it.
