@telstar - I too am considering purchasing one of these (GA-EG45M-UD2H) but it must have the ability to undervolt in the BIOS. Does it for sure and how low can it go?
Other than that how are you liking the board and have you tried using Linux?

@JoeTheZombie - Nice build dude. I am considering that motherboard and was wondering if you could tell me if it allow under volting in the BIOS? I have an e5200 that runs stable @ 0.9750 V even though the stock VID is 1.2875 V. Under volting it drops the temps by about 20 C. Please let me know and t...

mATX MB suggestion needed for undervolting
I need an mATX form factor MB that'll take an Intel 775 CPU (I have a spare e5200) that has the following key features: 1) Ability to set the CPU vcore, not just add to the stock VID (I want to under volt). My E5200 has a VID of 1.2875 V but runs perfectly stable @ 0.9750 V. 2) Southbridge that isn'...

WD Caviar Black WD7501AALS 750GB seems slow...
I just bought a Western Digital Caviar Black WD7501AALS 750GB (SATAII, 7200 RPM, 32 Mb cache). I ran a few disk benchmarks on it and found that is seems pretty darn slow compared to my Seagate drives. Does anyone else have this WD drive and would you mind running HD Tach on it if you run windows or ...

power consumption of my x3360 (kill-a-watt)
Got bored yesterday, so I ran checked out the power consumption of my X3360 system for shits and giggles with my kill-a-watt. http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/8808/killawattdi8.jpg Powered Hardware Details: Intel X3360 (C1 stepping) @ 8.5x400=3.40 GHz 266/667 MHz Strap CPU Vcc=1.12500 NB Core=1.37...

Memory bandwidth tests... any real differences (part 2)
About 7 months ago I posted data comparing two memory dividers (1:1 and 3:5 @ 333 MHz) on my then Q6600/P965 based system and concluded that for the 67 % increase in memory bandwidth, the marginal gains in actual performance weren't worth the extra voltage/heat. Since then I've upgraded my hardware ...

HOWTO: Minimizing Vcores and Operating Temps-must read
Well, guys I wrote up this procedure I used to minimize my vcores on my new x3360/P35-based system, and I thought I'd share it with folks. It's a systematic method anyone can use to arrive at a minimized set of vcores for a given multiplier and FSB value. The examples I present in this post are usin...

Well the HS is just half the story. Have a look at the results I got after lapping the IHS on my Q6600 as well Yeah, I remember readng your thread with the biggest gain achieved from lapping the Q6600. still 66 c isn't that high for an OCed Q6600 on load. I'm confident you are happy with the +- 10 ...

Thanks for the data, guys, will update the tables shortly with your results.
@thejamppa - is your 4000+ a Clawhammer (130 nm) or San Diego (90 nm). If you're unsure, CPU-Z will tell you on the first tab.

new HD x264 video encoding benchmark
Techarp is hosting a new HD x264 benchmark . Have a look and run it on your system to help populate the data table. Basically, you run the test encode of an HD sample (1280x720) and it will report back frames-per-second values for your machine @ it's clock/overclock level. You can run it at your sto...

First off, thanks to all who contributed data. 24-Feb-2008 - Finally updated the data tables on the x264 benchmark page . Updated the tables with another 45 nm chip: the QX9650 -- both at stock levels and @ overclocked to 4.2 GHz! With it, and the others (Xeon E5330 (Dual board), Q9550, and Q9350) there is now data on 4 different 45 nm chips. One thing that I found striking about these new chips is that they are only m...

Memory bandwidth tests... differences (PC5300 vs. PC8888)
Common sense tell you that higher memory bandwidth should mean faster results, right? I set out to put this thought to the test looking at just two different memory dividers on my o/c'ed Q6600 system. At a FSB of 333 MHz, the slowest and fastest dividers I could run are: 1:1 a.k.a. PC5300 (667 MHz) ...

P5B-Deluxe and Ballistix PC2-8500 problem
I just bought a pair of BL2KIT12864AA1065 and they will work in any mode except the fastest two. These work fine: 1:1 (533 MHz), 4:5 (667 MHz), and 2:3 (800 MHz). If I boot them in in 3:5 (889 MHz) or 1:2 (1,066 MHz) windows will not start. If I boot into Memtest86+ V1.70 , they give TONS of errors ...
