Its pretty clear that the Psu just can't deliver sufficient power. Maybe it was near the limit already earlier but its Max power has decreased due to age and makes other components fail. I only have the built-in firewall enabled in my Windows XP. And that is actually pretty much enough, as long as you know what you are doing. But for the general majority of users, this would not be the case.

Diminishing returns. Assume that upgrading from a hard drive to an Intel SSD will make some previously slow things awesomely fast. Now upgrading to the fastest available SSD will make these things even a bit faster. But is that little bit more anymore worth the loss in trust?

Im, I assumed that two outputs was generally the limit on graphics cards because that's what you mostly see, so I didn't even look! I'm on my second warranty replacement. The first 2 sucked out of the box. This third one makes annoying loud noises every once in a while EVEN WHEN IT'S NOT MOUNTED BY THE OS but at least seems to work.

I've never been disappointed by any of my several drives before these ones.

EMFs? Optical mice have a led and a camera, essentially. The old kind of mice that had rubber balls, still had leds and light sensors, but they just were inside the mouse, tracking hole patterns in disks that were spun by the ball. I don't see how any kind of mouse should be any better in this regar...

If you want it to work for 5 years, get one that has a 5 year warranty. That's how I buy all my PC parts.

I assume you use a version control system, so you would commit your work to a version control server regularly, and thus the reliability wouldn't really be a problem?
