Sorry, I have no idea. The ac97 codec is very noisy, and you'll find lots of info about this if you google. Electrical interference from the rest of the mobo. I use a Chaintech av710 ($25 PCI card) and get clean sound. It happens with most of the onboard audio outputs. Good enough for games, bad for...

That and the fact that the new one is installed by pushpins, something a lot of people complain about. You have to get bolts (with isolating spacers for the undermotherboard) to install it properly. http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/2313/img0025qf3.jpg http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread...

Hepa filters trap dust, but as the filter gets more and more filled with it, the air path gets blocked. After a few months of use (or weeks, depends on the dirt they accumulate) they have to be replaced for new ones. They work well with good filters, but you have to keep buying new ones. The electro...

Electrostatic air cleaners work very well, and the metallic grid that traps the charged dust can be removed and washed with water. Easy, economical and clean. I purchased the European version of this one: http://www.friedrich.com/aircleaner/ Works very well, although I had to undervolt the fan to us...

Speedfan has no linux version. And I prefer a bios control system than a software one. Programs hung up and stop working sometimes. I have a t-balancer, but it makes pwm noise with many fans and the cable mess you have to go through with it is terrible. It all comes to personal preference. If you li...

And everyone who says that it's bullshit, who hasn't tried it (and I'm not talking about the Longhorn beta almost a year ago) is a self-righteous jerk. I think that if your passionate defense of Vista needs that kind of argument, then I will no longer post here. I am not paid to be nobody's advocat...

Abit IP35 Pro: controls six fans!
This one can be the silencers' dream: it monitors 6 fans, even shutting down the system when overheating, and can control their speed too!:

Anyone knows if it works in linux?.

I think that the main point is not whether or not vista is better (after five years of work!) than XP. The point is that we finally had a version of windows working well (2 service packs and coutless updates later), after 5-6 years of work by the crappy company that makes it. And all of a sudden, we...

I got one of those 120 mm scythe fans and when I tried to connect it to my t-balancer I got a TERRIBLE noise. The Papst fans do this too. The only fans that I know are immune to PWM noise are nexus-yate loons. My scythe is now connected to the mobo case fan connector and works fine, noiseless at 800...

What CPU cooler for a Gigabyte GA-K8NSPro...?
With an Athlon64 3200 (socket 754)?..Maybe a thermalright XP-90? Will it ft?. I dont find much info on this mobo. Anyone installed a ninja on it?. The Thermalright HR05 for the chipset appears to be compatible.

I have the xp90 with a 90 papst fan (t-balanced) on an athlon64 3500 and most of the time it runs fanless. Only under heavy load spins. It is a great cooler. I do not like those other with nonstandard fans. When it dies (or becomes noisy), you cannot replace it.
Regards.

That happened to me when a fan in my msi 6600gt did not start at 7v with the computer. Dead card!. If your brother did not install properly the sink (it did not sit flat on the chip with the termal paste) or the fan did not spin for a while, this hot bastard dies. That's the danger of tinkering!
