I think Jay_S and even m0002 have some good advice. Please try and move to a big city ignoring the fact that you won't be making any real money because of high cost of living. At least you won't be draining your savings. At all costs avoid getting depressed and down on yourself. Have faith in your a...

http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1946854 Looks like the slickdeals folks like it. I can put together a i5 530 for $200 and this system for $115.
I am weary because of :
1. Higher power
2. Worse AHCI/SATA
3. DDR2
But you do end up saving 85 dollars. Decisions decisions.

Re: Wake from S3 bug
Thanks for the info, that board is out as I need proper S3 suspend. I can't believe after 10 years, they still don't get this right. I hear that the Gigabyte boards have problems with AHCI mode, so those 2 brands are out. Was about to purchase the MSI H55M-E33 myself, but have read about issues with...

Ow! My eyes! Sorry Mike, it tried to do the no adblock thing just now...by firing up IE8 stock config. All those moving ads do is make me want to never buy corsair,hp or shop at newegg and amazon again. If was forced to look at that noise, I would probably not visit SPCR as often. ( and pro...

I too am thinking of upgrading between the MSI and Intel H55 boards. If I got the intel board, I would be limited in overclocking, but it would be more stable. I am wondering if the improved stability is worth giving up the OC. It also is my hunch that the intel board supports hdmi bitstreaming (don...

visual appeal is always personal but I disagree strongly. lived for a month with the Asus and have to say i was very pleased with just about every aspect, including looks. It really loooks very cool. The latest iMacs look slightly 50s in comparison, still appealing and clean, but not "better" in an...

Power consumption and stability?
Do you mind checking the power usage? How is the stability of the AMD chipset & Biostar board in Linux? I need a new board for my linux file server that is stable & low power. Atom won't do.
Thanks

All 5900+ series (6000/7000/8000) nvidia cards have a separate 2D clock section in the drivers. You can lower the clock to 200 Mhz or so for htpc use from the usual 400-650. If you look for this program nibitor (nvidia bios editor) you can also reduce your 2d voltage and force the clock settings in ...

I wouldn't jump over to Conroe just yet; multi-tasking is actually pretty important in day to day work, and this Bit-Tech review shows that Conroe falls down here. Firstly, bit-tech is best at repackaging manufacturer content and press releases. The presler they compare it to has HT (2 real cores +...
