Tough crowd at SPCR sheesh.... Although Air filter suggestions reminds me, could we use speaker grill covering cloth as a filter? Would make good filter for the BIG dust particles.

http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1946854 Looks like the slickdeals folks like it. I can put together a i5 530 for $200 and this system for $115.

I am weary because of :
1. Higher power
2. Worse AHCI/SATA
3. DDR2

But you do end up saving 85 dollars. Decisions decisions.

Re: Wake from S3 bug

Thanks for the info, that board is out as I need proper S3 suspend. I can't believe after 10 years, they still don't get this right. I hear that the Gigabyte boards have problems with AHCI mode, so those 2 brands are out. Was about to purchase the MSI H55M-E33 myself, but have read about issues with...

Not great, but worth having.

I too am thinking of upgrading between the MSI and Intel H55 boards. If I got the intel board, I would be limited in overclocking, but it would be more stable. I am wondering if the improved stability is worth giving up the OC. It also is my hunch that the intel board supports hdmi bitstreaming (don...

I wonder if the 4670 alone is why this system idles 20W higher than the one I posted. Have you disabled some of the power-saving features?

I got a "Seagate FreeAgent 500 GB External hard drive - 480 Mbps - 5400 rpm". It is quiet enough for an HTPC and uses one connector. I agree that separate cases are uglier, but you can always hide them. That said, I wouldn't bother with one myself.

How on earth did you get a zm80d to fit on the 7900gs. My pny 7900gs does not have holes big enough for the zm80d (it needs 3mm). And it needs screws that thick because of the nuts that mount to the rear. I am reluctant to take a drill do my vid card to drill out the holes a little bit.

The Antec TrioTruepower 650 is on sale on frys/outpost for 60 AR w/ free ship. They have good deal on Antec stuff and its generally not old stuff judging by the S/N on my NeoHE. The Corsair 520 modular (seasonic built) is also on sale for around $80-90. Cant go wrong with either.
