What you're saying makes perfect sense. However, if you look at the pictures, he IS cutting off a whole quarter of a fan, not just half a side. If he only cuts off half a side it won't work at all. Oops, I was sure he only cut of half the side. Just thought you where locked in a thought. Guess my t...

As he only cuts off 1/4 of the fan, it can't possibly be the 'wrong' corner. Each of a fan's 4 corners are the same, so how could he have cut the wrong bit? He just needs to rotate the fan in it's current mounting. He may have to route the wires differently or something, but other than that he woul...

feel free to shout at me for being dumb if I am saying something stupid, but surely it makes no difference which corner of the fan you cut off, as, except for the wires, a fan is completely symmetrical. Can't you just rotate the fan through 90 degrees? That would work if the correct piece was cut o...

LEDs are extremly energy efficent but with to much volt they will be destroyed very fast.
I would guess the LEDs get 3.3V but it isn't sure since the motherboard changes and supply the current to the right and left
Most LEDs I've seen is between 2-3V depending on colour

To get a url, I'd have to log onto Newegg and search "aerocool dominator". Since you want the url, why don't you do it instead? :D
You didn't post the name otherwise I could  or atleast I thought you didn't, I assume that Dominator was refering to Corsairs memory

Noone here will ever use a fan that hits 8000rpm, most people here rarely use anything close to 1000rpm

I personaly prefer the 1200rpm version becourse both can be made inaudiable but if you need a bit more cooling then the 800rpm version might not be enought. Always nice to be safe :)

If I were planning on completely dissembling the HS's fins, yes, that would be an interesting experiment. However, looking down on the HS from the top, I don't plan to change the outline of the fins, meaning I don't have to disassemble the fins. Just use brute force to change their spacing, alterna...

Oops, I removed the pics from my site and forgot about it but yes it was more or less like Endos project

You might try to have 1 fin at 1 heatpipe and 1 fin at 2 heatpipes? Making it longer rather than wide and thereby keep the area while getting twice the amount of space between the fins?

As the others say, use your finger
It would be hard to add a heatsink onto that since they are exhaust fans and not on-the-spot-fans as I thought it might be.
But larger heatsinks might work or possibly cut a hole in the top (opposite the board) and mount a 120mm fan intake fan?

Comparing with some other monster cooler out there then this method is probibly one of the smartest I've seen. It's easy to find some spot where to connect the cooler with a PSU or something else

A couple of corsair dominators there and a X6700 and you can have a fast and quiet system

If so then it's a good fan (according to SPCR)
