Well, you can use speedfan. IMO a hardware solution is better. Software crashes and window$ hangs. I prefer something independent from the software. A t-balancer, or a mobo with a good fan control is always more secure. But YMMV.

I bet you can put a 80 mm fan at 5V on top of the heatsink and get much better temps. This one is interestingly good because it can work with no mods or spending more money on passive heatsinks.

With such a low load your are probably safe. The key word here is : probably. If this bothers you, change the fan to one that starts. If you are happy with it, don't.

I think that particular header needs a 4-pin PWM fan to allow speed control - that's why it's an advantage being able to use the CPU temp as a reference for a 3-pin fan on a SYS or AUX header. Interesting about the "optimize" thing - I never noticed it in my AW9D-Max (which I don't have any more, s...

I'm controlling 5 fans from 0-12V on my P5W with SpeedFan.. tho it only has 3 PWM's, one for cpu, one controlling both exhaust fans, and one controlling both hdd/intake fans.. works like a charm.. but this abit setup seems to be -alot- better control-wise... I've used speedfan and I like it a lot. ...

Well, after playing with the Abit ip35 pro for a while, I can say I like it!. It is true that the minimum voltage for fans in the BIOS is 8V. However, if you install the windows software (uguru) and push the setup button, there is an additional button for each fan labeled "optimize" that pushes the ...

It will work. But take into account that a PSU with wattage close to you system total under load means that it will run hot, and the fan will spin fast, creating noise. Get a 430 minimum; even a 550, because they are very silent when running cool. I have one of those in a system that will never appr...

Yahoo. gmail and hotmail have now BIG mailboxes for free. You can send yourself that kind of data to 3 accounts (one in each) weekly. And I would also get a flashdrive or portable HDD (there are ata-usb adapters for them) and take the data with me too.

If you take apart the platters and mount them again in a different drive, you'll face 2 problems: 1-If the platters are not PERFECTLY aligned as they were originally, the new drive wont be able to read them. 2-If the firmware is not EXACTLY the same, again no luck. This has to be solved getting a dr...

I've been playing with my ip35 pro and using the windows uguru software you can click the button optimize (at least) for the sys fan. Mine, a 1600 s-flex, goes down to 2.5 v! and 800 rpm, inaudible from 1 m away. The 2.5 v setting gets saved to the BIOS and works well later even in linux.

Get a samsung 501lj (the 500 GB one) and suspend it in a 3.5'' bay with some elastic tie; if it is too warm just cool it with a silent fan undervolted to 5V. There is no need for anything else. Money well spent.

Fans are fans, case or not. Just find what you need, in dimensions, rpms and noise. Many motherboards allow connecting a 3-pin fan in a 4-pin pwm socket. Check your manual.

Yes. In the future, as 45nm processors go down in power consumption and price, they may become the silencer's choice. Right now It is obvious we should go for the maximum power with minimum watts and cost, and that sweet spot (IMO) is around the E6750. Unless you do a lot of CPU-intensive tasks that...

Too many fans. That CPU could work fine with a 1-fan heatsink, probably even fanless if you get good airflow within the case. You can try to disconnect the 2 CPU fans and stress the CPU watching the temps. That monster of a CPU cooler may do the job. If this does not work, those fans could be underv...
