I too voted for air with only one reason in mind. With my air-cooled system, I have not touched the insides once in 6 months. I probably ought to due to dust build up, but even when I do, it's not a major ordeal. One consistent thing I've noticed with people who watercool is that maintanence NEEDS t...

I wasn't going to comment on this since this was a fairly lengthy list that was pasted without too much thought. I also thought that someone else would point this out: It seems obvious to me that the loud part of this system is going to be the Lance Armstrong LIVE STRONG wristband. Though the Blue/G...

Why not get a 20->24-pin adaptor and save yourself the money of a new PSU?

If your SLI system is problematic with the old PSU (by the numbers, it shouldn't be), you can get a new PSU later on.

Judging from the URL, it's an unofficial SPCR sneak preview. :-)

Does the seek noise bother you?

Serial power vs 4-pin molex.... I have no idea. I think the serial power may be better as it provides all the possible necessary voltages (including the 3.3v which doesn't exist on 4-pin molex). But a good drive shouldn't care.

Not a chance. The * part says that the total combined output of the 12v lines should not exceed 28A. This is substantially lower than other recent 500W PSUs. My guess is that this was originally an ATX v1.3 PSUs that was dressed up to be a 2.0 PSU.

They're also of different ages. S12 is ATX v2.2, Silencer is ATX v1.3, What are you running? Personally, I think this will be similar to the old Tornado vs. Silencer debates, which was that generally speaking the Tornado, but if you were willing to do a fan swap on the Silencer, you could do straigh...

i think you apply a voltage to the quartz...and it vibrates physically. It might be same technology as cigarette lighters where u press a button to get the spark (it squeezes a quartz crystal) in reverse. Perhaps the quartz is held tight so that its vibrations get turned into an a/c ripple. this is...

I think people have the wrong impression - this isn't about hiccups (US spelling) or hiccoughs (UK spelling) - it's about hickups. What do you need this speed for? Large striping arrays will speed up Photoshop applications (on the order of 3-4 drive arrays or more, none of this two drive BS), but won't do much for application loading.

Errors like that can occur because the power fails while the PC is writing to the hard disk, and it can have nothing to do with the drive failing. Most likely it is fine. Just write your stuff to CD/DVD just in case. The flip side is true too... It COULD very well be that your hard drive is dying. ...

Retail processors come with stock heatsinks, which in turn are typically eschewed on this forum for being too noisy.
