There can sometimes be quite big differences between the CPU temperature in the BIOS and what's reported by the different software temperature monitoring programs. Gigabyte motherboards don't display the individual CPU core temperatures in the BIOS either. Temperatures only really matter if the comp...

ElanVital Greenerger SSM 450W (passive PSU) If you've got an Elanvital Greenerger PSU it must be several years old now? If you put your ear next to the PSU is there any buzzing from it? You had a factory overclocked 9800GT card. Overclocking the graphics card is an easy way to end up with one that buzzes/ squeals/ whines. :( My overclocked Nvidia 8800GTS 640mb card squealed louder the more it was overclocked. My current Nvidia GTX260 at stock clock speeds doesn't appear to squeal n...

I doubt you've damaged the card. If you've touched the GPU core with your fingers it leaves an oily residue behind that will affect the cooling performance of the heatsink. The ramsinks are unlikely to stick either as the 3M adhesive tape needs a clean surface to attach to. Rather than putting it to...

The cooling performance is excellent. The HR-01 keeps the E8400 at a temperature of 23 ℃ idle. What program are you using to measure the CPU temperatures? You get different results depending which program you look at. For the 45nm Core 2 processors Real Temp 2.90 is quite a good one to use. :) ht...

Today I decided to take a look at graphics cards (GTA4 is stressing my 8800GT quite a bit..). Even a current top end graphics card ...

is 65c a good/safe idle temperature for a 8800 GTS 640MB with passive HR-03plus? Thanks :) So long as you aren't planning on using it for anything but 2D mode that's ok. You can easily overclock a graphics card using programs like Rivatuner, ATITool or Ntune. For basic overclocking it's simply a case of moving a slider to increase GPU/ shader/ memory clock speeds.
