Re: Question for you on the Biostar board?
ksanderash: Helped by your glowing review, I just got a Biostar G31-M7 TE + e5200 + 4670 system. Got it up and running yesterday. I was hoping you might help me with a small problem I am having - I cannot get it to recognize my USB 2.0 ports? It thinks they are 1.1. I have XP SP2 installed, and I i...

I'm happy to report that I'm still alive! :P The fan connector appeared to have been glued on, but scraping it away with a needle worked (eventually). I decided to run the new fan cable out the back of the PSU with the other cables, and now have it attached to a header on my motherboard. This also ...

This looks like a great card. I'm someone concerned about power consumption at idle, since I don't game that often. Check my topic G31+E5200 (there is also 4670 consuming test): http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=51054 But it'd be nice to know I have the power to play HL2/TF2 at 1...

Hmm, yeah. There's a standard connector on the P12 but it has the three wires/plug, and I'm pretty sure the PSU will be 2-pin. Is it safe to plug the connector in to just 2 pins and leave the place where the other pin would go empty instead of running it somewhere? It is completely safe! The yellow...

Bought the Enermax Modu 82+525W. One word: Awesome! Very quiet indeed. Much more so that the Corsair 520w Modular PSU. I'm happy for you :) But these are expensive too! I couldn't afford myself such cost so I simply modified my Delta 450W to be cooled by brand-new slow GlacialTech starting from 400...

Re: G31+E5200 - my silent experiences
I am a bit surprised that the RAM depends on the 5V as I thought they are also driven by VRM which depends on 12V. Yeah, +5V was used both for chipset and dimms supplying. I think this was done to make the PSU's load more balanced as long as we have 5+ and 3.3V rails. Why not use them, if they do e...

Comfortable 120mm RPM for me are 400-700. Higher than these it is a way noisy. I can clearly hear it at night, e.g. Yeah, there is a connector on the picture. But are you shure that your brand-new NF-P12... Oh, sorry, I did some search for NF-P12 pics, yes you have no reason to solder anything as th...

P.S. Just find two wires from stock fan (red+black), cut them off, and bind them to your brand-new fan.

I've replaced long time ago the stock noisy YateLoon (about 2200rpm) in my Delta 450W with GlacialTech HBDL one (hydrodinamic bearing, 950rpm). Had gained much silence but a bit more heat too. It works up to this moment, with about 150-200W load max. Usually (if not a Hi-End device) PSU fans comes w...

G31+E5200 - my silent experiences
Hi, all silence lovers. Did some energy consumption measurements of my home setup. These were the objects of interest: 1) Biostar G31-M7TE (1.18V on GMCH) 2) Intel E5200 2,5GHz (1.1250V) 3) Patriot EP 2x2Gb DDR2-800 CL5 (1.85V) 4) Force3D HD4670 750(1.3V)/2000MHz(1.8V) Pls note, that both ODD and HD...

Holy moly! 3.7 GHz! That is wicked. Which exact G31 board did you get? Seems like it was some great RAM sticks too. Temps are also decent for the massive overclock, although I personally would prefer something lower for 24/7 use. Glad things worked out great for you! Thanx! Hey, this is just 296MHz...

I own now bundle from E5200 + 4Gb RAM + HD4670 + G31 motherboard, and you can see here how it performs in Everest when overclocked:

G31 is just lovely See no point in buying something expensive for E5200 + HD4670.

lechuck That means no voltage regulation for Sapphire - how typical! That also explains why diferent cards have diferent power consumption. Maybe that will be someday regulated with drivers? I'm not shure if there is a special hardware scheme in every 4670 card to provide ability of switching Vcore...

Yesterday I bought G31 based mobo and I'm pretty happy with it (thinking of making special topic for G31, with some energy measurements) I suggest you to do in a same way with your AMD setup :) I seems to me that those watts that you think you could save abandoning internal GPU core it is a drop in ...

I think this is great config! Cold and fast! But instead of Asus I'd recommend Biostar G31-M7 (or any other). Asus has something not good with 4Gb support (look at the Asus forum).

GIGABYTE GA-73PVM-S2 (7100+630) which I was using for half a year was also good in this meaning -- had both 3-pin and 4-pin quiet fan support. Yeah, I'd recommend this mobo among other MCP73s. And BIOSTAR GF7100P-M7S which I'm using now (well, my girlfriend in fact) has NO 3-pin support! Had to supp...
