Has anyone looked into the Asus M3A76-CM yet? I'm considering it over the Biostar TA760G recommended here because: - it's cheaper than the Biostar at Frys locally or Newegg online. - Kingston already listed DDR-2 800 ECC ram compatible with this board - Same feature set as TA760 (4 dimms, 6 SATA, Re...

Any chance you have a Samsung Spinpoint M7 (HM500JI) for comparison? I like the noise & performance of the desktop F2, but have not found good reviews of the Spinpoint M7 other than performance numbers @ tomshardware.com

I'm impressed, it seems to be working quite well. Nothing seems to be getting too hot. Improvements over stock power supply (Antec Earthwatts 380) - much longer cables = better routing and airflow - noticably quieter at 150+ watts - between 1-2 cm shorter than stock PS. This gives much needed help t...

I just took a closer look, and that looks like it could work. I'll try the Nexus 430 value, it looks like a good match with long cables and shallow depth.

Are there top-fan power supplies? I looked at the seasonic S12 and others, but they pull air in through the 120mm bottom fan. If I mounted it upside down in the nsk3480 it could pull air in from the top, but pulling cool air from the top seems like it would be backwards. Is that what you'd recommend?

Recommended PSU for Antec NSK3480

I bought an Antec NSK3480 and have been running it with the included earthwatts 380. Recently, I did some upgrade (E5200 -> Q8400, ATI HD3650 -> HD4670), and now there is pretty consistent coil whine. I introduced the CPU first, and GPU about a month later. It seems to kick in as rapid chirping with...

Thanks for posting your results on the Sapphire Ultimate. It's too bad it doesn't have working powerplay. Looking at the numbers though, the idle consumption is still similar to my Asus EAH3650 silent. The 4670 can max out game settings at my 1440x900 resolution, so it might still be a good upgrade...

That Sapphire HD 4670 Ultimate looks very, very good! I pulled trigger on this one with my local retailer. I really do like the fact passive cooling is more than enough, its small and has DVI, VGA and Display Port ^^ review in here: http://metku.net/index.html?path=reviews/sapphire-ultimate-hd4670/...

Temperature ranges for passive video cards?

What temperature range is "safe" for video cards? I have Asus's passively cooled EAH3650. At idle / light usage, powerplay kicks in, it drops to 0.9v, and only reaches around 30c. Once I get it under load, it seems to be steady around 90c. I haven't experienced any crashes or visual issues - but is ...

I installed a Xigmatek HDT-S1283 today with the backplate, and it fit well. Since the Xigmatek backplate is narrower, it didn't hit any components. Well - now I need more suggestions. The DG33BU with the HR-01+ is a FAIL. I need something with a different spacing on the back plate, or the push-pin style mount. Interesting - so you just built your own shroud and attached it to the side of the ninja2 heatsink? It looks like a pretty easy fit.

Also - is the HT-01-775 the HT-01 (original) or HT-01+ ?

No GPU fan - it's passive cooled only. I'm definitely hearing the CPU fan.

My theory is that the CPU fan is working extra hard because of the high ambient temperature. Running the CPU at 100% in media encoding doesn't make it loud enough to be noticed.

I just finished my new system, and I'm trying to figure out if its worth investing in more cooling. During normal usage such as games, video encoding, it's silent enough. Recommendations for 5.25" bay 3.5" HD silencers

I think I'm going to eventually get an NSK3480 - but won't be able to use the hard drive mount at the bottom of the case. I'd like to go ahead and get a 5.25" silencing drive mount now, and try it in my old Antec SLK1650, then move it to the NSK3480 later. My drive is a Seagate 7200.10, or whichever...

The eah3650 does correctly lower GPU and ram clocks, but I am not sure about voltage. As chips get hotter, the internal resistance increases, so more power will be drawn. That might account for the higher load, even if voltage adjustment is in effect.

The EAH3650 is confirmed in many places to have broken HDMI audio. Only Catalyst 8.2 works, and my understanding is that no newer drivers will ever work. Asus has failed to give useful replies to any of us who have contacted support - see this thread: http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=200803311...
