Re: Make your Boxee Box silent (0 dB)

Looks like a standard 3 pin why not just plug in a slow rpm 120mm and leave it open.

Re: My Quad-Monitor Rackmount PC and HTPC!

Very nice i've been toying with the idea of getting a projector myself but low noise is something only to be found in the high end models generally. Used to have triple monitor setup but moved to a single 30" + 24" :). Stock intel heatsink doesn't bother you too much? Doesn't that dell switch have a...

Re: Good single low rpm fan for HR-02

Think I'll pick myself up 3 500rpm scythes and try several different configurations. Will post results.

Re: Good single low rpm fan for HR-02

Despite spcrs review do you think I can be fine with picking 2 of the SY1225SL12SL (500rpm) models locally for $9 a piece? I'm sure at 500rpm I could even get 3 fans really without any difference noise wise. Why not. How often does your machine run at full load, other than when you are benchmarking...

Re: Good single low rpm fan for HR-02

So you're saying two slipstreams @ 500rpm one at the top and then one pushing on the 'bottom' side of the cooler would be most efficient low rpm low noise solution? I also can't find the 800rpm model in stock ANYWHERE. Despite spcrs review do you think I can be fine with picking 2 of the SY1225SL12S...

Re: Good single low rpm fan for HR-02

Right now even with all the fans @ constant 500rpm and the slipstream undervolted my gpu (460) and cpu under synthetic benchmarks the 2600k @ 4.4ghz only just barely breaks 70 degrees. It's a very nice heatsink. Do you think the slipstream 800rpm will be the best fit directly against a heatsink? Cre...

Good single low rpm fan for HR-02

Hey everyone I just got an HR-02 in my Silverstone FT-02B case. It's fine passive but with a single low rpm fan seems to shave off a couple degrees without adding any perceivable noise. Case fans are volted down to 500rpm. I have the asus p8p67 deluxe so fan control is fine. Right now i just have a ...

Re: Fortress FT02B w/ 2600k and HR-02

Yes sorry bear didn't notice that message. I'll take more pictures tomorrow. I added in and changed a couple things. Tried a fan duct but it actually increased temps a couple degrees not decreased. Added a noctua @ 700rpm and tuned the other 3 180mm fans down to 500rpm. I really think that to make t...

Re: Server "Tycho" - Fractal Design Define XL w/15 HDDs.

Cool modifications and such but I don't see how this is much cheaper/convenient than a Norco 4220/4224 case with 120mm middle attachment and some reasonable 80mm back fan replacements. Building this myself with a couple noctua back fans/ 120mm middle fans. It's in a separate room though and I can ke...

Re: Fortress FT02B w/ 2600k and HR-02

Yes that is the stock heatsink on the MSI gtx 460 'cyclone' edition. http://reviews-tests.com/video_graphics_cards/MSI/N460GTX_Cyclone_768D5-OC/MSI_N460GTX_Cyclone_768D5-OC_Heatsink_DVI_HDMI.jpg Once i modded the bios which was relatively easy fan noise @ heat @ 30% is acceptable (I don't have the f...

Re: Fortress FT02B w/ 2600k and HR-02

Very Quiet. I have no complaints about noise now that i installed a fan controller for the bottom 3 fans. Noise isn't measurably louder than my p182 that only had 3 fans @ 500rpm and a passive psu. On load it does get a tiny bit louder once the ax850 revs up. But even my 460 under full load doesn't ...

Fortress FT02B w/ 2600k and HR-02

My aging LGA 775 board's pci express port died on me recently so I decided to make a whole new system. The p182 was starting to feel a little cramped although I have it modified to be whisper quiet I decided to go with the FT02B case: Fortress FT02B mobo: P8P67 Deluxe cpu: 2600k heatsink: Thermalrig...

Re: Which GTX 460 to choose?

I'd just like to say i've been running the MSI 460 768mb cyclone for a couple weeks and even to my discerning ears in my case with only 3 noctua NF-S12B fan it is very quiet. It's a very efficient that is so cool it could probably almost run passive - never breaks 60 degrees in game on my system and...

Re: Zen400w enough?

Thanks guys i've been running the above system with the MSI 460 460 768mb (overclocked a bit) and also added in an asus xonar essence. Seems to be running flawless.
Btw the MSI 460 is a very quiet card even with only a noctua @ 500rpm running on it it never needs to go above 40% fan speed.

Zen400w enough?

Hi everyone I currently run this system in a p182: asus m50vm board with Intel 8400 @ stock 2gb DDR2 HIS silent 4670 intel 80gb SSD (x2) 1 pci express sata It is dead silent but i have since taken this system (was my htpc) and replaced it with a smaller solution. So now it's become my main desktop (...
