I'm sure it performs well but it's probably mercury and toxic. Or maybe modified liquid gallium with a lower melting point. Also it is an electrical conductor I'm pretty sure. Based on specs it can thermally conduct 10X better than thermal compound but still not nearly as well as aluminum or copper....

Still, what matters at the end of the day is that you can run one CPU passive (true passive) w/Ninja heatsink while the other you cannot. Turion has yet to pass the treshold for passive cooling. Have I missed something? This seems to imply that you can run a Pentium M with a Ninja heatsink. On what...

Bar81 has hit the nail. =) The 25W Turions are just selected 35W Turions with the voltage lowered to 1.2V. If you're undervolting, it hardly makes any difference. Let's keep the discussion on desktops, shall we? Most at SPCR are interested in desktops. What is important is heating, not power consump...

frostedflakes right above you is running his (slightly undervolted) Turion MT-34 with a fanless Scythe NCU-2005. His S12 is the only fan in that system. Ahhh interesting... but it's undervolted to 1.075. I don't know if all the Turions could do that. Also, how would it work with an Antec Phantom 35...

Load is what matters from heat production perspective, not idle. At SPCR most of us are interested in how suitable these are in silent desktop systems. So the Turion still doesn't even come close to the Dothan. 1:51 versus 2:32 battery life is a very significant difference once you factor in the pow...

Nice HDD enclosure! So you've already bought the BIP3? Hmmm... you can sell it! Or settle with using three 5V Nexus fans on them, but the problem is that they are hard to fit internally. I think you can find some ideas by searching my posts. I detail the components I use for my passive watercooling ...

Why are your temps so horrible with the XP-90? Something is wrong and Ninja isn't likely to help you. First, what motherboard do you use? Some Abit motherboard overreport CPU temps by 15-20C. While ASUS underreports temps. Read the recent heatsink lapping thread and lap your heatsink. Then use Arcti...

None of my Thermaltake CPU coolers were flat, and I've owned a dozen different thermaltake coolers. After even an ameteurish grinding, I got 5-10C improvement in temps. And thing is, they were all still slightly convex because I am a horrible lapper. But maybe there is a law of diminishing returns f...

Great discussion! Need I say that Intel claims Yonah will be much better for gaming with "vastly improved floating point performance"? And Dothan was already good in gaming. Not to mention it can handle 100C temperatures w/o crashing, whereas my 2.5GHz Athlon64 crashes at anything above 65C. Somethi...

that's a really old post. I would reference this one, similar but at least more up to date: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/08/23/intel_sossaman_yonah/ yes, it might be the chip to own. quite true. however, amd per level of chip goes faster right now than anything intel has for gaming purposes. y...
