I have all 3 speed Yate Loons, and have 1850 GTs on a fan controller. So no, not as such, however, I think at 1450rpm the GTs should sound about the same as YL at 1350rpm, but push more air. They are much better quality fans than YLs (at least, they feel like they are, much heavier, feel solid). Sor...

Hmm the thermosyphon idea is very cool! I was thinking about something roughly similar, but I was thinking big heat pipes.

You actually don't want to use component temps to control the speed, you want to use the liquid temp. This is pretty easy to get using a Bitspower temp plug, either in a t-piece or if your res has a spare hole, in your res (mines in my res). I've gone backwards and forwards on this issue, and curren...

Given you didn't really specify any criteria, I had to vote air cooled. Air cooled systems can be passive, or very close to it without much of a hassle (not sure about the video card, you might be limited to a 5770), and hence can be *very* quiet. Water cooled systems are a niche, but, for me, an im...

I think this is very dependent on the specific motherboard (and hence controller) you are using. I had no end of problems with Speedfan and an Asus board, but the gigabyte boards I've had since then have worked fine. I really wish the source for speedfan was open, as it would make fixing these kinds...

3m has a 'high air flow' filter, which I am very curious about. Anyone used or seen this?

My guess is it would be too restrictive... but you'd have a clean PC!

Definitely. No end to where you can put a case fan! :) Tin Snips will make short work of it (I prefer tin snips for small jobs, less mess and, if you are inexperienced, easier to get the hang of imo. Just wear gloves!!). Buy some U-Channel rubber molding and it will look professional, even if its a ...

Brackets like this: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=332&products_id=21047 there are others too. zip ties work. Many options. For example a coolermaster Cosmos S and stacker are examples of cases with full 5.25" drive bays at the front. There are many more.

Googling shows this: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article695-page5.html this is for the 120mm fan, so I have no idea if its the same. But, assuming it is, starting voltage is 8.9v. If you dig around on the scythe website you might be able to find your exact fan.... or, if you have a fan controller,...

Yes, there is a danger. It depends on how much power the fans draw, and how much the motherboard can handle. On my gigabyte mobo (and I believe most new GB boards), the fan headers can handle up to 1a.... so if you are hanging efficient fans off it, you could easily drive 3 or 4 fans. OTOH if you ar...

hahah, yes watercooling has a habit of going over budget! I shudder to think what I've spent on it.... I would strongly recommend you do not hard mount the pumps on the bottom. The will vibrate the case and be very noisy, they really really need a soft mounting of some kind. If you think you can fit...

Depends who you ask. By SPCR terms I think they are noisy. If you are asking overclocking forums... then no, they aren't (but its hard to hear anything over those 2500rpm SanAce fans... WHAT?! hehe). So yeah, depends on your rad fans I guess. If you aren't mounting the bay res inside a bay, why use ...

No, you don't need sensors. I find its nice to know, but ultimately, as long as your CPU/GPU is kept cool, it doesn't matter. EDIT: I think you are going to struggle to make that set up very quiet. MCP355s are not very quiet (imo) and mounting them in a bay res will make it harder to de-couple the v...

I just got a bunch of GTs, and have been very impressed with the quality and noise (or lack of) from them. The airflow through the radiator is also impressive. For comparison I have a bunch of various speed/size yate loons, and I think the GTs are better noise/performance to the YLs. I know its pure...

This really should be in a new thread... but to answer your question, it should work well. The air coming out from the radiator isn't hot as such, its generally only a few degrees warmer than the air going in. That said, I am really not convinced water cooling is worth it if you are running a stock ...

The difference between the high end (low FPI) rads is very small. Get whatever is cheapest for you imo:
