as for bottom chamber.. i have no disks at all there, i even removed the bottom disk bay.. so would that mean that i dont really need the bottom fan? i'm afraid my corsair would have hard time taking air, since it's taking it from top where top of bottom cage is pretty close, so wouldnt that hurt? ...

As for dampening material from my perspective/experience. It doesn't really decrease the dBA, at least not noticably. However what it did do was change the tone of the sound somewhat, which was totally worth it for me. Never used commercial products for it though, don't know how they fare in noise r...

oh, seems i didnt look good enough, i'll have to check it again :) so if i remove top and rear tricools, is there going to be a empty hole where the switches previously were? also, is bottom chamber fan really needed? or would my corsair hx620 manage to pull enough air by itself? i really hate bott...

I agree that its an under-valued product, I didnt see in your link that the S1 has actually been used on the 38xx series of cards or 8800GT cards. If you can find some evidence such as benchmarks and or photo's you are onto a winner. *edited out spyware riddled page :) Search around on [H]ardforum,...

My 8800GT blows hot air in the case and system temps don't increase much (even tho Ive now ducted the hot air outside for the sake of it). A bit off topic here, sorry. How did you duct your 8800GT? I'm in the progress of building a duct (only 1 intake in the case, the 2 standard exhausts, completel...

Why do you need the intake there? Just because of messy cables in the middle?

Having it halfway saves a bit of possible noise (it being further away and all).

They are ok, but as your pc gets more and more silent (after some new parts and a bit of case tweaking and the likes) you'll really notice the 'whoosh' sound they make on low. But if you have a bit of ambiant noise in/near your room, you should have no trouble with them at all.

In case of the 8800GT this is a bad thing though, since it has no exhaust. Meaning your case temps will rise a lot if you load the card for a while.

Heatsink on it seems less effective then the S1 in my opinion. S1 has more surface to stick a nice fan (or 2) on, 1 more heatpipe and is better looking (provided you take off the plastic thingies). What would be nice to see is a review of 8800GT's with all available passive coolers at this time, don...

If above fails, mail Antec about needing spare parts on your p180 and ask if they have something that can work out for you.

To be honest, i can't take this list very seriously. They nearly only go on by reports from the respective companies and the occasional test. If a company doesn't report much about green computing they get a low score, even if they are in fact doing a lot about it. Still, the thought behind the list...

Re: 8800GTS (new g92) v. 8800GT v. ATI 3870 sound levels

The 8800gt and 2900xt are terrible, the rest are pretty good for stock coolers and comparable to each other. As for loudness: the 8800GT is pretty silent as long as the fan is at <30% capacity, which is 1600ish rpm i think. But when that fanspeed starts ramping up, it gets ugly. With the fan locked...

Only thing that's probably different is the amount of memory/mosfet heatsinks and the mounting parts. Heatsink/Heatpipes itself seems the same to me.

Seems so.

My Club3d 8800GT has the exact same layout as my friends Asus 8800GT. Only thing different is the sticker on the stock cooling.

As far as i know, the p180(b) has had a revision which brought all of the changes from the p182 to the 180 as well.
So you should be good to go.
