Pete, the only reason to change the size of tubing is to reduce restriction, thus improving flow rate. Going to a bigger tube actually reduces "velocity", but from a performance standpoint that impact is trivial. But you're right...it's impact on total system flow rate is small (much smaller than m...

Pretty, but I doubt it will perform very well. Caveats: 1. 1/8" tubing= low flow 2. tube-style radiator= inferior performance to flat-tubed heatercore style rads 3. y-connector= additional (unnecessary restriction) and lower flow 4. less apparent surface area than a reserator, and less than optimal...

The cheapest decent pump for performance/noise is likely going to be either a Laing DDC /Swiftech MCP350, Laing D5/ Swiftech MCP655, or an AquaXtreme 50z (found at cooltechnica). If you can spare a few $ jump for a DDC with a plexiglass top conversion (found at Alphacool or Performance-PCs); it has ...

Just go with a t-line. None of the noise, hassle, leak potential or routing issues of a res. Most often better performance, too.

I guess if you consider the OS interface dx9 compatible, thats all kosher then. I focus on gaming though. and there's no card that accomplishes that yet. Games that require DX10 for any significant performance/visual improvement are estimated to be ~2 years away. That said, I'll be in line for a fu...

The nB and sB stay pretty cool thanks to the front fan blowing on them, and the Thermalright HR-05 on the nB doesn't hurt ;)

deionized distilled water conducts electricty as much as fluid xp initially, which is none. However, there is always going to be a small amount of electroconduction beween differing metals, even those as similar as copper and brass. So, over time everything becomes conductive, including fluid xp. P...

95% deionized distilled water (non-conductive as anything that claims to be)
5% zerex racing coolant

Best temps I've ever experienced, and the guys over at Xtreme Systems swear by it.

Ideal Fan for Liberty 620w Swap

I just purchased a Liberty 620w, and while it's not exactly noisy in my P180, it's not as quiet as the faulty NeoHE it replaces.

1. Does anyone know the RPM/CFM of the OEM fan?
2. What is the best quiet replacement without losing (much) cooling performance?

Thanks

How about H2o? I'm getting tired of waiting on Thermalright/Arctic Cooling/Zalman to release their x1900xt compatible coolers. It's tempting to construct a contained GPU loop just for kicks.

I've been toying with the idea of getting a V1 Ultra for my 7800 GT CO. One thing I've thought of trying is to put a 120mm fan in front of the card -- towards the front of the case, in other words. My thinking is that it would direct air at both heat sinks and towards the rear 120mm fan, and take s...

Run it at low speed. The temperature difference between the two, in my experience, is 2-3c; the difference in perceived noise levels, monumental.

I, too, heartily recommend them. In fact, I've found many of their "package" deals with a heatsink/fan combo cost as much as $10 less shipped than the next cheapest (in a good way) competitor. Tunaround and shipping are, as well, exemplary. Now, enough higher-level writing on a message board; back t...

I went with the L1A for testing/repeatability purposes (from Jab-Tech, they guarantee Japanese), but I'm still interested in others' experiences with this fan.

Why not replace the stock fan with a zalman vf700 alcu? You could easily run it at 5v with that GPU and it'd be well-nigh silent.

This fan is 80x15mm, which is perfect for my upcoming Thermalright V-1 Ultra test. However, I've not had any experience with this model and am wondering if anyone has additional input. A 256MB 7800GTX with a Zalman VF700 AlCu at 5V will idle at 50C and load at 75C in a case with 1 120 Nexus at 7V and a hot CPU. I used to run that setup.
