Take a look at this review. It covers the cards you're thinking about and shows their performance in 10-15 popular games. http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.html?i=1890&p=1 For gaming performance, a fast video card is important so I'd vote for the 9800 pro. It's currently a good buy for serious ...

Another flag some find useful is -verbosity 9 (there is a space between verbosity and the 9)
This adds alot of detail to the log file about what the program is doing especially ending and starting work units. Verbosity can be 1-9 with 9 being the most detailed. Verbosity 3 is the default.

I've changed the water setup enough that previous temps aren't really comparable; different pump, new case, different copper elbows, different heatercore fan, and no gpu block. Previous cpu die temps with just a cpu block in rig#2's case (see below) were low-mid 40s at 100% load. The xp2500 was over...

The corner of fans can be a problem, but you can still use ducts to reduce the effect of turbulence. I added a duct from the hsf straight to the side and cut a hole in the side panel. That helped cpu temps greatly. The duct also makes a great path for sound to exit the case. I'm thinking about cover...

Pump vibration is not the problem. I must move the pump to be able to install a PCI sound card; the pump is too wide. The onboard left channel audio doesn't work and this is going to be my gaming rig.

Suggestions needed for suspending a water pump

The pictures show the current setup of rig#1. I need to add a PCI sound card and the pump is blocking all of the PCI slots. Keeping everything internal to the case, the only reasonable solution I can think of is to remove the 3.5 bay and suspend the pump under the 5.25 bays and over the heatercore. ...

Update: I am now recommending the VGA silencer over w/c the gpu unless you are planning insane overclocking of the gpu. I rebuilt my water system this weekend. Getting all of the 3/4 OD tubing and the (huge!) Ehiem 1250 pump to fit was a big challenge inside the SLK3700 case. It would have been much...

Yes, you have to drill new holes to match the fan. Center punch each hole before drilling and it shouldn't be hard.

I use 1/2"ID 5/8" OD tubing so it won't kink, but it is a bit more dificult to work with... I was worried about the pressure on the vid card...... 1/16 wall tubing kinks/collapses easier than 1/8 inch. That is the reason people recommend 1/2 ID 3/4 OD for performance watercooling. The thicker sidew...

Add the GPU block; one less buzzy fan and far better cooling. With a 9600XT though, you're not generating that much heat (compared to a 9700 or 9800) so a VGA silencer on low would probably work well also. The only downside to watercooling the GPU (especially with 1/2 ID tubing) is the tubing bends ...

Re: Making an Antec SL350 PSU quieter (not silent)

Only one question. Apparently some psus detect the removal of one of the fans and make the other fan spin faster because of it. I wonder if the Antec psus do this ? After the mod, the 80mm fan starts ~1300 RPM when the computer is first turned on and the system is cold. It then slowly speeds up to ...

Making an Antec SL350 PSU quieter (not silent)

The SL350 PSU that comes with the Antec SLK3700AMB case is noisier than it needs to be. I opened the PSU and removed the 92mm (bottom) fan and grill. The fan power leads go to a tiny plug that is easy to remove with needle-nose pliers. Of course, don't open or work on a PSU unless you know what you'...

The Zalman HP80C (or HP80A) doesn't require the shim to be removed on the ATI 9500, 9700, and 9800 video cards. The HP80C comes with the bottom machined so the center sit inside the shim and makes good contact with the core. The original HP80 was completely flat on the bottom and did require shim re...
