Interesting.

Wouldn't it be better to use a thermal paste that is accessible to consumers though? These reviews are mostly read by consumers, after all.

Something like OCZ Freeze or MX-3?

It seems ironic (if not moronic ) that ATI is boasting about Eyefinity and multi-monitor gaming yet their cards work like arse when using more than one monitor because the lazy (or just stupid) engineers/driver developers/whoever over at ATI didn't do a proper job therefore the card's idle clocks o...

My Gigabyte GA-MA78G-DS3H does this to my Athlon 64 X2 5000+ too.
It seems this is not a board specific issue.

Re: ZEROtherm Nirvana CPU Cooler

It is the heat generated by the CPU that matters in evaluating the cooler. Very true! Unfortunately the heat isn't enough for a perfect comparison if the size and shape of the IHS of the CPU used for testing differs from the IHS on my intended setup. The typical socket 775 CPU has an IHS that's con...

PWM question

What will happen if I plug a 3-pin fan into my CPU-fan header, which is 4-pin?

Will the 3-pin run full speed?

I wouldn't put "bigger heatsink needed" as a con.

JonnyGuru and a couple other review sites tested the Seasonic X series PSU's before and the exhaust temps were quite nice. Seasonic knew what they were doing.

It seems the higher efficiency means less heat produced.

Why is ATX alive? Because people are resistant to change. <sarcasm> But no, that can't make any sense. Instead, let's keep GPUs on cards. Then, the cooling system can't be very heavy. (Everyone knows lighter and smaller heatsinks perform better) AND because the cards are right next to your ot...

The S-Clip isn't too suitable for the Ultra-120. It's a little flimsy for that.

whiic -- You could call it arbitrary or unfounded, but we have our reasons. Lots of PR folks believe there's no such thing as bad PR. facts -- 1) Orochi weighs 1.285 kg or 2.84 lb w/ fan -- that's a far cry from any HSF we've tested. Almost anything ~1kg has a proper bolt-through mounting system. 3...

Hi, I think all but the hottest CPU's will be fine with one fan or a duct to the rear exhaust (and to the PSU?), and for those that need it a duct and a fan pushing into the heatsink. Two fans with a duct to the rear exhaust fan (3 fans) would be overkill. Given how fat (100mm depth) the the Mugen ...
