So what we have here then are two excellent coolers unable to reach their full potential (within the framework of their design) because of two stupid easily avoidable mistakes. Or am I perhaps way off? too harsh? From where I'm standing the Yasya looks mighty tempting. A proper mounting system is ac...

Push pins will become brittle over time and break. They aren't suitable for repeated removal, they can't be adjusted and installation means pressing down hard on the motherboard. No, I don't like them much. In a dream world all CPU coolers would have the mounting system of the Prolima Megahalem. It ...

@farns. I suggest you look for an aftermarket cooler. You will be disappointed with the stock cooler: both at idle and at load.

I want piece of mind on the PSU, are the Corsairs one of the quietest brands of PSU? I KNOW they are reputable and everyone raves about them but are they QUIET?! That's what I ended up doing on my case to reduce noise. It also helped to improve the airflow somewhat.

No need to trim the 3 pin connector. simply remove the 2 pin SOCKET on the PSB board and connect the 3 pin connector like you would the 2 pin connector.

So you acknowledge then that science cannot scientifically explain it, then where's the disagreement.

I have seen the BBC series before, found it to be interesting.

They can and have
No, they have not because they can't.

I have stated in the past, albeit briefly, that science cannot explain love...nor can religion.

Maximum power draw of 120w gives you plenty of leeway when choosing a fan so it all comes down to how you wish to set this up.

Do you want the PSU to control the fan or do you want to control the fan manually?

The HR-01X is listed under Intel coolers. same cooler Listys, you just need the mounting hardware for your socket. Classic Thermalright stunt. renaming the coolers when all that differs is the mounting hardware for the socket itself, not the actual cooler. I've rechecked it, HR-01 Plus and HR-01X......

Hi
From what I understand the HR-01X (XEON) and the HR-01 PLUS are exactly the same, only difference being the mounting hardware they are shipped with.

I was able to find one at Scan.

Edit:
For some reason I couldn't link directly to the cooler.

First stop the fan in the PSU (when the system is up and running) and listen for potential coil whine and/or buzzing noise.

Nothing is to be gained here with swapping the fan and void the guarantee if afterwards you end up with another source of noise.
