The demand for these must be getting large....TekGems just raised their 10+ price to $4.06. Still a good price though.

If the PSU fires up with the jumper test but not when hooked up to the motherboard then it's like I said. Either the CPU is toast or the heatsink isn't mounted properly like meglamaniac stated. If you don't know how to check the clearances, find a buddy who knows and get him/her to check it out. If ...

Re: the bearing noise might reduce with some use

Hello; If you have units that click slightly, they might get quieter with a little use/break in time. :-) Just an FYI, of the two orange Yate Loons I received from Geeks.com both have no bearing noise when suspended vertically (normal exhaust fan position) but one clicks a lot when suspended horizo...

Ooh, not good! Well, there's a few things you could try. First verify the PSU works. You need to disconnect the main ATX connector from your motherboard (brand?) and jumper the only green wire to any black wire. If your PSU fires up and stays up then the PSU is fine (you'll notice your HDDs sp...

The heavyweight stuff is kinda pricey. £30 each ($60 USD), you'd be better off with the stuff from Mcmaster or acoustipack. You wouldn't be able to use this in many places in a case though. 50cm (2in) thick, you'd be blocking a fan or two if this were placed on the side panel depending on your case....

I agree with everyone's posts so far. The Acousticase is THE SAME CASE as the compucase. The only differences are that the Acousticase has been worked over (acoustipack foam, rubber feet, fan mounts, etc.). These additions can be found elsewhere for much cheaper than the £50 price premium for the ac...

The acousticase is identical to the compucase lx-6a19 ( see here ). You can get the compucase from Xcase without PSU for 30 UK The compucase is very nice. I'd rather build a system using that then the Sonata. I have the Sonata (check my sig) for my rig and I've built systems using the compucase ( se...

One major thing i forgot to mention, the issues with the psu. Only way i found to get the psu into place was from inside and to twist it thru the support in the case, this required me to take the heatsink off the processor to make sure i didnt catch it /knock it. My Sonata has a similar layout. The...

The polymeric mastic would just add mass to the case thereby reducing the frequency of the reverberations to the lower freq band. The melamine would absorb the noise energy and convert it to heat (little noise/little heat). The eggcrate foam I added tends to difuse the sound waves so they don't main...

They're shipping mine to my APO address. The tracking number I got yesterday was from their distributor to their shop where they'll divert the shipment to me via USPS. Their shop should get it Monday when presumably they'll cross ship them to me.

Here's another mod I don't think I saw listed here. Cut the sheetmetal between the HDD sleds to free up airflow through the front fan mount. Also if you use a 120mm fanned PSU (like I do), you could cut the rear PSU support ledge so that it doesn't impede airflow to the PSU fan. http://homepage.ntlw...

Updated with more pics. Hacked up some more sheet metal. Swapped the stock fan in the Fortron PSU with a low-speed variant Yate Loon on elastomer grommets. Also put another Orange Yate Loon (not pictured) on the rear exhaust instead of the Panaflo. CPU temps are now up by 1-2C due to lower exhaust a...

There's another source for the orange 120mm: TekGems . The price for one to nine fans is $10.99 each, but buy ten or more and the price is $3.90 each! Thanks for the link! I just ordered a pack of ten! With shipping, came to just under $50 USD. $5 a fan delivered! Woohoo. Not like I need 10 fans bu...

May I add to the questions by asking what you've sealed the edges of the fan blowholes with? Looks good btw. It's called "U-channel" or "C-strip" moulding. Check this thread. It's pretty cheap and is bought by the foot. Nice setup but why did you 'hard mount' your case fans? I'd use grommets or ela...

Well, it should fit, but of course YMMV. It all depends on the case. Just take your old PSU and eyeball it (and the MB connector) and go shopping on Newegg, Directron (or Pricewatch) and look at the pictures. Or you could try to get a small quiet fan from Dorothy and mod your PSU yourself. http://ho...

You're best bet is just to wait to get the rest of your parts. Some PSUs won't power up unless there's a load on some of the lines. If you really, really, really want to power it up just to play with it (not recommended!) you need to put a jumperwire across the green wire to any black wire on the bi...

You could try Newegg.com. I did a quick search and came up with this. Fortron makes really good PSUs (they're OEM for many companies ie. Nexus, Seasonic, sparkle, etc.)
Just search for MicroATX or MiniATX.
