Try the highest-powered peltier you can find and give it your PSU's 5V rail and see if that works. They should be pretty efficient at low voltages. Don't forget the anti-condensation insulation just to be safe. This is a lot of work, but if you can TAKE UP THE CAUSE we will thank you for it. The ide...

It is so big! Not portable at all! Zalman users can get another Reserator radiator for dual radiator. My computer is passively watercooled also, but it is internal and portable using the CORA 642 passive radiator from Alphacool. It is a different design from the Reserator and much more compact. You ...

Ahhh so my low expectations for the thermaltake watercooler has been confirmed. It is indeed horrible if it leaks. Simple unacceptable. Thermaltake shouldn't sell things that can ruin computers and give bad rep to watercooling. Me and two of my friends each built our own watercooling systems four ye...

Yeah the OCZ does seem a better value. However, the Venice platform supports DDR500 (PC4000) without overclocking. There is an option for it on all Socket 939 boards. On dual-core CPUs the memory speed is very noticeable, but not on single cores. If you are running dualcore you might want to conside...

No need for speculation. Passive cooling via peltier has already been shown to work well, especially with low-power CPUs like the 90nm Athlons (overclocked=55W). The trick is to use low voltage (ie. 5V from PSU), but I think the sweet spot would be to use 7V from a 350W Peltier. At 14V full 350W, th...

Doesn't installing fans to a watercooling system defeat the purpose of silent watercooling? Also, the Bigwater kit doesn't seem silent judging by its design and the fact that its made by thermaltake. why don't you hook up all the hot stuff to cheap $15 waterblocks and just get a real radiator, a 120...

The Akasa Paxpower I cannot recommend since its max efficiency is only 75% which is poor. Their claims of 18dBA is very difficult to beleive due to this fact. The biggest reason you should avoid this PSU is because its 12V rail is 11.65V at idle, and around the same for load but maybe even lower. Th...

Well CVD production of small diamonds is really cheap. I have diamond knife sharpeners having a decent layer of small diamonds on top of metal, and those are pretty cheap $15. If this is indeed cheaper than CVD process of making diamonds, then it should be pretty cheap. Here are some very rough esti...

So did you lap the heatsink? Sometimes Zalmans aren't lapped properly, and you will have to do it yourself. If you are going watercooling, going for external system like Reserater can become a PITA. You can't carry around your computer very easily and changing parts is difficult. People will come to...

And that's the amazing thing. The XP90C seems to outperform the XP120 at around half the CFM. You guys better check my bold claim, but according to my tests and those of some others it seems to be true.qviri wrote:800 RPM of one fan isn't necessarily equal in terms of CFM to 800 RPM of another fan.

or you can go for a XP-90 or XP-90C. for its huge size i don't see any real advantages of XP120, and XP-90C performs better and is quieter at the same time. Cotdt, what are you talkig about? First, the noise depends on the fan used, not the heatsink. And for all intensive purposes 92mm and 120mm ne...

Well diamond or no diamond, this Zalman 9500 is still a bit too loud for SPCR people if it is even louder than the 7000, and even if it performs as good as a 120.1 watercooler, its acoustic performance doesn't even come close. Have anyone ever heard the silence of a passive watercooler or the near-...
