Well this weekend I did not have much time to get much works done, been out protesting... Next weekend is looking pretty limited for time as well. By the time I got back I was pretty knackered... lots of time on my feet. I did put in a few hours on the software side, and I got good news and bad news...

A sever hyphe I am eager to see where you get to next on this build. Plastics are a bitch to form, but from what I have read, its a practice thing. I took the cowards road out and kept my design to flat pieces. It looks like you didn't apply enough heat. (cause having read less than 10 guides and be...

Here are the last few shots of the project as it stands at the end of the weekend. I'm a bit disapointed with my progress, But I had to take frequent naps today. In my defense I am stuggling with the cold, though the drink did have a devastating effect on my effectiveness today. What I did get done ...

I did get too drunk... waay to drunk! Tried to make the back band, which was to be from an L shaped bit of Alu... Big mistake! It requires cutting and shaping and either my calcs are out, my skills are blunted or it was a daft idea. I'm scrapping the L anyway, but got to go to the harware store and ...

First things forst, you can have a look in your bios to see what voltage adjustments the board will allow you. If the bios supports it you can start dropping just the vcore voltage a bit at a time. Then run prime95 or some other loading software (Folding at home perhaps) and check that the chip stay...

A very quick update... Was going to finish the case before I added these images, but I got a bit over excited and started the update. I just completed 2 of 3 of the anodised "bands" that finish the case lid. The result is exacly what I hoped for! Dont know how long the next one and the facia will ta...

Had considered that Endo, I've got an 8mm Akasa heatsink that would just about fit. The potential problems I percieved were 1. The Sony heatsink cools the CPU, GPU and Memory. Clearly using one heatsink is cost effective in manufacturing for Sony. As there are likely to be inconsitancies in depth be...

Yangster.. Is that the reed switch your talking about? Glad to hear it works.. Didn't really doubt it would. Now for the fun bit, you out with the bondo then to fill in the power switch? Updated my project now, but that reed switch idea has been playing on my mind. I'm starting to think about using ...

I'd be interested in knowing how you intend to use a reed switch. I have seen them used on modded boxes to activate lighting when a case front door is opened. But my limited imagination is floundering as to how you would use one for a pc switch. oh no, I have one idea. Use one which closes when the ...

Thats a good mod dude. KISS never fails and you have employed the principle here very well. Though I wouldn't like to underestimate the craftsmanship involved. If your going to duct it out though, have you considered moving the fan away from the cooler. i.e. further up the duct. I know from my own e...

Liking it bluefront... But I agree with McBanjo on that LCD display. I am working on a 5'TFT display for my own project just now and I think I have an idea that would look uber good. Hows about a 5'TFT panel (playstation one screen) mounted in the same place. Using Samurize you can make up your own ...

You can blingify your case and have it remain quiet, you just have to know what you're doing :P I agree... Equally you can case mod without the bling. I wouldn't roughen the surface, I doubt that any gain would be made.. Sirface area rules.

I personally wouldn't paint it. If anything the paint will insulate.

Black paint is used if you wish to draw heat into an object... Not really what we are aiming for here.

Building 100% passive is a difficult game. Its generally a trade off between power and passive. You can buy for hideous prices cases that allow passive running. Or you can adapt/make your own That said it is not impossible, is a challenging and rewarding goal to set yourself and is good fun... If yo...
