No credit on the folding site, or on the extreme stats site?
There is a marked delay in seeing credits on the extreme overclockers site. You finished after 9pm, so the next stats in which you would be included would be at 12pm - assuming you are some 0 or multiple of 3 hours different from PST. At the moment, the Extreme site is working one hour after the Fol...

I would suggest you download one of the console only versions of ubuntu .. there is no graphical SMP for linux, so you would be wasting cycles Floffe wrote: I'm not sure how tight it would be with deadlines, I know SMP has very short ones that dual cores can have trouble meeting if not folding 24/7....

Bought a flash card reader with an integrated diskette drive
One of the most frequent uses for my computer is photo editing and storage. So I had to buy a flash reader. I used to have an external USB reader, from Apacer, but it died the death. And anyway, I hated the way it would hide under the papers on my desk when I needed it. So when I built my new system...

Linux checkpoints every 1%
And a Q6600, especially if you set up two linux appliances to split the cores, should have no trouble finishing a 1760 point WU inside the deadlines, if it is running 12 hours/day.

Lots of 2605 and 2619 ...
Iganu's sudden spurt looks like the result of a catch up by the stats team. Many many folders had been beefing on the support site about their completed WUs not getting credit. All the three WUs credited to me in the three hour period to midnight CST last night were catch-ups which I had copmleted b...

is the fan louder than the other comparisons?
I think it is fiendishly hard to "tune" the volume and equalisation on your PC to evaluate the SPCR samples fairly. So, perhaps you can say whether the unit you received is also louder than the competing samples from the SPCR review at the same settings (as I understand it) as when you play the SPCR...

there are also ubuntu virtual appliances for VMWare, so you could use processor affinity to make each of the four look like a dual core, and thus perhaps avoid the issues people are seeing with their quads .... It would be useful if someone would post on SPCR a beginners guide to using Linux from an SPCR perspective. I am curious because I read another review somewhere which suggested they did not stick on well. And I cannot find the installation instructions on-line. Over here in Europe, despite the fact that 1$ <> €0.63, we still have to pay €82 or more for the same 2*2 bundles. Which is a PITA, just like the fact the Q9x50 processors, except for the one that costs €850 (more than one thousand of your greenbacks), are still only available in the shopkeepe...

FWIW, I would avoid Tagan
I bought a Tagan when the Antec PSU in my Sonata case gave up the ghost. It is very reliable, but it has never been quiet (any this rig runs without any O/C or other power-draining excuses). So if silence matters, I would choose one of the other solutions. In contrast to the Tagan, the Corsair HX520...

But have you looked at his stats? He is sometimes doing 4 or 5 WUs a day, for a total of 588 to 1200 points. He must have the mother of all machines to get through so many low scoew WUs. Did you connect up the ATX 12v properly?
This sounds like a problem I had when I built my rig on the P35-DS4. At the first read of the motherboard manual, it did not sound as though I needed to connect the additional four pin 12v lead (ATX 12v 2X), but without this connection, there is not enough power to make the CPU start. I was fairly c...

I hope you realize that you can not install anything properly when you OC. You need to drop to stock speeds, install, and then return to OCing.
