really considering this one. 320gb for 90 bucks. can't go wrong... Performance is pretty good too, HD Tach scored around 67MB/s. That's really close to the 750GB Seagate so I guess the high density platters work. I'm running HD Tach and Windows on the same drive so I probably lost a few MB in the b...

SAMSUNG SpinPoint T166 HD321KJ 320GB is great

I was originally using the Samsung SpinPoint T 400 GB but I was setting up my file server and needed another 400 GB. I decided to risk it and purchased the new 320 GB version because it has 166GB/platter and 16 MB cache. I'm using it right now and it's excellent. I think the idle noise is a tad quie...

I purchased this from Frys.com and I am very disappointed. I had the 430 watt Neo HE before purchasing this 550 watt version and the 550 watt is definitely louder. The fan controller seems to be stuck or something because the fan is spinning fast. I might have a defective one though, I'll try pickin...

What i meant was tighten the mounting brackets to the enclosure. Otherwise the head of the screw might touch the metal on the mounting brackets(=the shiny rectangular bits). There are six screws on the bracket, tighten the two in the middle very tight. Not absurdly incredibly pop your head tight, b...

The ones that tighten the shiny bits. Two screws per rectangular shiny bit. The shiny bits are srewed between the enclosure and the case  I took a look at it and tightened it a bit. Is the way you mount the Scythe the same as the screenshot iin the first post? You have the screws not screw...

I've had a NeoHE psu (EC model) for almost a year now. Came with the P150 case I purchased last autumn. My first PC configuration (P4 2.6GHz Northwood, 1GB DDR 400, Radeon 9800Pro) I had no problems with. Now when I updated my computer to a C2D e6300 with 2GB RAM DDR800 and a 7900GS, I've ran into ...

I'm not sure which screws you're referring to. Are you talking about the screws that connect the case to the enclosure?

Just received my Scythe Quiet Drive today. It seems to have lowered the idle noise but I think seek noise and vibration increased. I have it mounted with the rails on my P180, that might be causing the seek noise to be amplified. Overall it was pretty easy to assemble but I wish they gave better ins...

I might get myself one of these. I have the Samsung 400 GB and it's actually pretty "loud". Relative to the rest of my system anyway. I'm just worried quieting the Samsung's idle noise is going to bring out other noise that's not really smooth and then I'll have to figure out how to quiet those othe...

I'm using a March 2006 430 watt Neo HE and I'm getting pretty bad electrical noise when running Folding @ Home. Is this a common issue or should I try an RMA?

Noise seems to depend on power draw. When I undervolted my Core 2 Duo from 1.325v (stock) to 1.2v the noise is not as loud.

It really depends on the other parts of your system. If your system is mostly made up of low speed fans such as Nexus/Globe Win/Yate-Loon at 7v-5v it will definitely make a huge difference. The 7200.10 is definitely not a quiet drive. I have the Samsung 400 GB and the 400 GB 7200.10 as backup storag...

Fan ramp up largely temperature or power usage dependent?

Fry's has the Antec Neo HE 430 watt for $59 and I've been thinking about picking it up to replace my Coolermaster. I have the Antec P180 so my PSU won't be cooling anything else. Will the fan ramp up at the same power usage as stated in the SPCR reviews or will it ramp up slower? I know the fan cont...

Panaflo FBA08A12L horrible bearing noise

I wanted to replace the Zalman fan on my VF700 and I bought a Panaflo FBA08A12L because it's the reference 80mm fan here at SPCR. I just plugged it in and I'm really disappointed. There is a lot of motor/bearing noise at 5v. The sonic signature is not smooth at all and it makes the same type of whis...

I think the problem does not affect every Ultra 120. Some Newegg reviews mention the same problem and after an RMA it was fixed. I have sent in my Ultra for an RMA a few weeks ago but they are currently out of stock.

They told me the wait could be as long as until the end of October. :(

Antec P180 top vent rattles

I've tried mounting 2 different Globewin Fans on the top vent of the P180 and both of them make a rattling sound. It's driving me crazy. I think it has to do with the mounting and not the fan itself. When the fan is unmounted it makes very little motor/bearing noise. The problem is the fan can't be ...

I'm looking for a new heatsink, and I've been having a hard time deciding between the Ninja or the Infinity. There aren't a lot of reviews available on the Infinity yet, but judging from the fin spacing it looks like the Ninja might perform better with slow fans. In one German review the Ultra-120 e...

Try wiggling the drive bay forward a bit. I have this issue in my P180 as well. The problem is that the hard drive sometimes get caught on the side of the case, so if you can stick a finger in there and try to nudge the hard drive out a little you'll be able to get it out.
