I just wanted to mention if you have a motherboard with 4 ram slots and fill all 4, expect that you might have to alter the ram timings or bump up the voltage a bit, or both. For example, in the socket A era filling all 4 slots meant changing from 1T to 2T.

Ohm's law tells me that 50 watts at 12v is just over 4A. I don't think you need worry. That CWT should actually deliver its rated power and ripple should be reasonable.

Likely no issue with the 12V power. Some of the old psu's you salvage out of old pc's are generic junk, but you'll find a few made by FSP and CWT under other names. The quality of the power is probably better from those. PowerMan psu's are often among those.

I doubt the amount of ram has to be that much of an issue, with ones this old I think people repurposing them will tend to take the ram and such from a few systems and put it into one. Sigh. Run the manufacturer's test utility. UBCD has all of them. If it passes, use it.

The front power button is nothing more than a normally open momentary contact switch. In other words, it simply shorts together the two pins on the motherboard that it connects to. Your problem is almost certainly software, not hardware.
