2.5" Hard Drives via PCI Slot
Just thought I would post this here in case it could be of use to someone here. Saw it at Tom'sHardware (yawn). A Hard Disk In A PCI Slot? The Upgradeware HD25-I/IS http://www6.tomshardware.com/storage/20050617/index.html Clickable Thumbnail: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v235/drcr1/misc/th_intr...

Not too crazy about even anodised Al myself. Still though, a pair of the 550s might serve as a nice substitute to the uninsulated copper waterheater tank I've basically given up trying to get ahold of for my project (link). I could always setup a sacrificial anode.

Good call frank. Just though of the SilverStone fan a little while ago. evilgawd, the most common way of slowing down a fan is to reduce its voltage. PWM is different. It pluses 12v to the fan and how often/infrequent it sends the pluse determines how fast the fan will run. Don't have time for detai...

Don't go the Panaflo route! About 99% of the samples just won't quiet down. You already know my suggestion (not suggestion s as according to frank's post pctekonline is a no-go now). I would most seriously recommend the Globe to you, but by all means feel free to look around. Most Papsts are good f...

Yeah, a Globe S1202512L-3M would be a great fit for you. Check this link out: http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=21946 Good luck! Oh, and don't be bashful for being from/of the OCing league. You can still be a OCer and have a quiet rig. It just takes know now. And you've come to the ri...

Re: stupid question
Hmm... maybe I should suggest one? Or start one your self. :) SpaceDreamer, definitly don't feel bad. I actually didn't figure out what it was myself until later in my quest for quietness. Basically instead of decreasing the voltage from 12v (which would be called undervolting), PWM simply pluses 1...

Awesome. Looking forward to hearing from you with orders on the way! The pitch of the fan looks pretty shallow...a good thing for high restrictive enviroments. And with that many blades and little if any gap between the blades, it gets even better from the theorical side of things. :) To quote ferdb...

It is by FAR the best fan I have ever used, and after about 6 months of owning it, it still works as quietly as the day I got it. Do you own any Japanflos, Nexuses, or any other SPCR standard? I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but it might be the best thing you've ever heard simply because you have...

Yeha (I mean that denotatively, not as a proper noun refering to the above poster lol), Nidecs have been known to be good quiet choices for *many* years now. They were more popular when defacto quite fans were unknown. Circa '00ish Long before I found SPCR (or even before the site was up, right?). I...

Spinning the fans up to 12V results in a substantial hum, substantial enough that readings at 1m became possible: 31 dBA front, 33 dBA side, and 35 dBA rear. This is due to the fact that the right side door begins resonating as the Nexus is brought near to full speed. I had thought my foam block/el...

Nice link sthayashi. About have the price of the UK site when you consider the exchange rate. Obviously a lot easier to get too. From the first page of this thread, about half way down. I had found these fans earlier on Sunon's website, but I can't find anywhere to get them. None of Sunon's distributors have them in stock. Yeah Viper. Most PSUs are going to need at lease some airflow. Still though, a single Japanaflo @ 5v of your entire machine isn’t too bad. :) Blue, I think technically it's IDE to USB, though it really doesn't matter. Really all it does is allow you to use an internal HD as an external HD. They can ...

Compact Flash is just one of many types of flash memory. It's one of the largest types, but it is also the cheapest per capacity (at least, here in the US it is). One great thing about this fan is well it performs in higher restrictive environments compared to other 25mm fans. The 4412 has been unavailable in the US maket, as far as I know, since Directron stopped carring the line. And unlike Directron's old stock, this version of the 4412 has RPM signal outp...
