I think we should have a poll at the top of this thread. It will be much easier for bestbyteinc to collect the information. Just my 2 cents

Hmm? None of my 12 Panaflo 12L 80mm fans go below 7V... This is using a sunbeam 5.25" fan controller. However, my 1 92mm M1BX goes down to about 5V.

In less than a month, I will be upgrading to a SLI setup. Therefore, I want to have the PCIe connector which the 430w s...

As above said, your multimeter is going to be much more accurate than what the mobo could ever tell ya. If your multimeter starts telling you 11.01 volts for 12V, then you start worrying.

Pick yourself up a S12 430Watt from Newegg. Its about 100$ less shipping. It is virtually the same as the ST400 but with dual 12V rails.

Re: what fan is in this model?

Hello: It'll be interesting to learn what fan model is in the 430watt unit. The S12 500watt has a Yate Loon ball bearing 5-blade high speed unit -- but it actually pretty quiet, under normal use anyway. I could be wrong, but I faintly recall that Mike might have mentioned that the lower wattage S12...

I have a NF7-S and the south bridge was getting hot, so I modded a black aluminum pentium slot heatsink (cut it to 10mm height, 9cm²) and used frag tape and it has been pretty nice since.

When trying to have a quiet system, it is far more effective to attack the chief problem rather than trying to soften the problem. In other words, check out the noise level of your psu, system fans, cpu fan, Northbridge fan, GPU Fan by stopping each with your finger pressing onto the central hub. If...

Most likely not. You are fine as long as you dont "kink" the IDE ribbon. Also, you probably should make sure the ribbon is long enough. You will probably noticed the most dramatic change in your cooling (for the better) if somehow you can fit a 120mm fan as an exhaust for your case in the back. A 120mm fan in the front may not have as great of an effect because you will still be exhausting with a small fan. However, with the other w...

Depends on what kind of "quiet" you are looking for. Are you looking for Quieter than your GPU fan? Or are you looking for quiet = can't hear from 30cm away? the heat that the cpu heatsink and fan assembly get rid of, have to go somewhere. Generally there are 2 basic areas for that heat to go. The PSU and the Exhaust fan. LOL afaik, most normal psus are of a standard size.

As for that 120mm fan in the bottom center, maybe that would be good if you had a passive psu that had open grating in the front and back ends.
