Re: Suspending HDDs with non-elastic cord
Sure seems like it wouldn't isolate the vibrations as well as something elastic, but give it a try. You've got nothing to lose but time and the cost of a shoelace. It' may be perfectly satisfactory to you, and it certainly solves the only negative issue I've ever seen with elastic suspension.

Re: Every Trackpad Should Look as Good as HP’s Invisible Won
As a laptop user, I can't imagine having the trackpad built in like that. I've played with a few laptops that have a flush trackpad that is textured slightly differently than the surrounding palmrest and these are a serious pain in the ass to use. This completely invisible HP version would be even w...

Re: DIY Aluminum case for a Laptop Motherboard.
Very cool! I don't know about anyone else, but I'd be interested in seeing some still pics of this build, as well as some written details about it's construction.
Is the OEM fan on the motherboard operational?
What temps are you getting with and w/o the added 80mm external fan?

Re: enclosures?
External enclosures haven't really changed much over the past few years. I'd search this forum for older posts and see what's recommended. Here's a couple of useful, newer threads: http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=59719 http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t...

Well, this thread is starting to go in a great direction!
I highly suggest knocking off the snide comments if you don't want this thread locked/deleted....

I use a hand-built intake duct that runs from the front of the case to the PSU. Let the PSU pull in it's own isolated air supply without the need for additional fannage or external case mods.

Ones I've seen in action are far from quiet. They sound just like any other box fan, and they cost hundreds of dollars.Metaluna wrote:They're way too expensive to take seriously, but has anyone tried the new Dyson fans?
