Electronic freaks! Need help with a filter for 15kHz PWM.
I am working on a fan controller with PWM. It will be based on a uC to generate the PWM. In order to make in future proof, that is so I can upgrade it later with RPM monitoring, I want to turn the PWM square waves into a voltage and for such I need a filter of some kind. However I do not know much o...

How do I shut up my Pioneer 105F 1.22 DVD drive?
Just as the subject says. How do I do it? Anyone have any luck with it? I haven't used this drive for some time but now I have to and when I play a DVD it sounds like a jet taking off. Any help appreciated.

More info on the F-S boards capabilities here http://www.fujitsu-siemens.com/rl/peripherals/mainboards/glossary_mainboards_5.html It seems quite interesting. The board have 3 controllable fan outputs. Charlie: Have you tried this HD silent mode? Have anyone seen a review of the board? Maybe somethin...

Do note that most of the L1A does not support RPM monitoring. So check the product number and compare it with the list on the main site somwhere to see about you fan does support RPM monitoring (the 3rd wire). BTW: Is the CPU temp above others with similar setups, and how is your ambient temp compar...

Interesting read even thou the discussion got off track. However I was thinking about the problem with the network. Doing this in the uC software would make it quite complicated and use a lot of the memory. I have come up with 2 solutions. First is to attach a pressure sensor on uC so this can be us...

Most fans where not designed to be undervolted either. I have not seen clear evidence that fans have behaved worse in good PWM systems than they have in good voltage regulated systems.. True. Fans are usually designed to be run at 100% and DC/DC voltage regulation is more complex to design. However...

I have to disagree. I believe that PWM is more state of the art that voltage regulation. The major problem is that many fans gives clicking noice when going at low speed (compare to what they wheer designed for). This problem goes for both voltage regulation and PWM regulation. Yes, I agree. Thing ...

Actualy this is pretty far from the digidoc and similar. It is probaly more like the one Ravton has made :D It can be costumized to run as I want it. Did I mention that it has an LCD? In can run the fans in tree different states. Full on, off and variable. The thing is that I do not have to go with ...

Advanced Fan Control/Intelligent Enviroment Monitoring setup
I'm building an 8 channel fan controller run by a uC. I'm working on how to control temps at the various locations. As I see it there are tree types of fans that need to be controlled: 1) Spot cooling fans, like CPU, GPU and NB 2) Flow fans, eg case fans, exhaust and intake 3) Combi fans eg PSU fans...

Thx for the info, since I'm also shopping for a new DVD drive. So far I have had the Pioneer 105 slot, and it's pretty noisy and cannot be slowed down with software, althou later models from Pioneer can. Because I use it for a HTPC I choose to get a new one, with CD-RW. The Plextor Combo CD/RW+DVD i...

This should do the trick: http://www.microchip.com/1010/pline/analog/anicateg/thermal/dcfan/tc6xx/tc654/index.htm And build in PWM output for the fan. Only 30-100% duty cycle but I guess that from 0-30% the air flow of a fan i very limited, and making a fan contoller that can regulate in this area i...

I'll try to give you some answears, however I'm not an expert in this subject. Yes it is positive pulses. The pulse height is equvivalent to the supplied voltage. The fan will give one pulse pr. round, but some fans makes 2 or 4. I believe that the signal is more like a square wave than your illustr...

I'm on the lookout for a fan similar to what you describe, but to use with a variable RPM fan controller. It seems as the M1A is a very good choise as the overall performance contra noise is pretty good, from 12-5V according to the list mentioned above. However these are not easily obtainable in Den...

The reason for the RPM signal to drop low, is that it is fed by ground and the voltage you apply to the fan. This means that when a lower voltage is applied the squarewaes on the RPM pin gets low, like from 12V to 5V. I the mobos rpm monitoring circuit is only specified to like 10-14 volts, the RPM ...

Fancontrol: It would not be cheaper for anyone but you, I hope. But some people can get samples of the chips making it cheaper for them. fancontrol: This is a really good idea and I hate to see you trow in the towel. I do however understand that funding can be a problem, since these parts do not come cheap.
